I downloaded Texmod for use with a Garrus face fix, but I use the Steam version and the game can't start without Steam also running (so it can't start with Texmod).  I googled a solution that involved:

1) Telling Texmod to load MassEffect.exe from the Steam folder.
2) Renaming the exe to something else and launching the game through Steam.

According to the post I read Texmod was then supposed to pop-up and let me run the game with the new texture, but that didn't work.  Just wondering if anyone ever figured out how to use Texmod with the Steam ME version.

I didn't have any trouble. Just have the Steam client running, then tell TexMod to load ME.

Did you run MassEffect.exe with TexMod or one of the launcher files? I tried your way (Steam client running and then running TexMod) and the new face isn't showing up in the world, though I don't have a cutscene with Garrus to check if it works there yet.



Which Garrus fix are you using? Maybe it's a problem with the one I have. I downloaded "Garrus Face Retexture (white markings with blue tinge)" from this forum: http://www.shsforums...ect-pc-modlist/

Although I'm not using it anymore, what I recall doing is running the Steam Client; then running TexMod, selecting steamapps\\\\common\\\\Mass Effect\\\\binaries\\\\MassEffect.exe under the Steam folder as the target application; loading the packages I wanted to use; then hitting run or whatever it is in Texmod.

And I don't think I was using that Garrus fix, I was using one someone uploaded at the old forums shortly after 1.02 was released and it was established Garrus wasn't getting a real fix. That and the Earth-not-backwards fix for the moon mission.

tried it but it doesnt seem to work with me. cant scan the textures or load them or anything

It worked for a while, but after I re-installed steam, it would not. This was the same for other Mass Effect (2) Mods. Maybe it as something to do with the coding of the game. But hey! The game is still the best thing you will ever play
