I've seen a few people complain that DA rips wheel of time off, but that's neither here nor there.

I love playing games and bioware stuff in particular, my wife reads a ton of fantasy books and is really into old cultures. We don't share these hobbies.

I was talking to her about DA after I finished DA2 this week, and it turned into a pretty long conversation about WoT, DA and their similarities. So we came up with an idea, she will play her first 3d game and I will read the wheel of time while she does.

Should be a fun way to share epic fantasy and cross genres. Has anyone else here done anything like this here? I'd like to welcome any other suggestions when it comes to books, movies and games that go well together.

(Not sure if this is where I post something like this, but I've never really used a forum before)

Never read Wheel of Time, but it's no secret that Dragon Age (or pretty much any story) is influenced by things that have come before.

("Good artists borrow, great artists steal," as the saying goes.  Shakespeare stole most of his plots, and made them his.)

As for the influences, the four I've identified - in order of influence - are 1) Real-world history and mythology, 2) Tolkien, 3) Dungeons and Dragons, and 4) Song of Ice and Fire (a.k.a. Game of Thrones).  There might certainly be other influences I don't know about, or it could be that Wheel of Time is influenced by the same sources.

I cant really see the comparison between the two series.
