I wonder if no one at Bioware actually raised their eyebrows at continuing and unerring tradition of having more straight love interests than gay ones. A tradition that was originally going to be broken.
What's more interesting is the preponderance of straight guys.
And straight guys only get two options as well. If you're going to be that picky about numbers, then straight dudes got the short stick, too. And straight females still only have the extra options due to the extended time.
All I said was that it was more equal than you were making it out to be.
What I said is that there are more straight love interests than gay ones, as usual. There is no "more equal" here.
Especially not when one group has double the options as the others.
As for straight guys, they've consistently had more options in almost every Bioware game with romances, so I'm much more inclined to point out that gay player characters as a whole always get less options.

Yes. A minority group in gaming now has a larger number of LIs. Which women are a minority.
And in the past, women also get less options, even as recently as Star Wars: The Old Republic.
You keep beating that dead horse about the last-minute add-ins given to the females. Peace.

Nah, I have Cass and Josephine ![]()

Yes, straight women have traditionally gotten less options than straight men. I am happy that they've gotten more options in recent games in this series. In fact, for two games in a row now, they have gotten more options than any other group.
It would be nice to see gay and lesbian gamers get more options in future games as well. Especially since these groups have gotten less options in every game to date, so it would be a nice change of pace for these groups to get more options as well. I think that this is point.
Must be just me but I really don't see the attraction of Iron bull and Blackwall.
If they didn't add Cullen and Solas in the delay I think I would cry if I found out I was stuck with those two
They're both big and muscular but IB has a face only a mother would love and Blackwalls beard is just too bushy Santa beard for me. If it was a short beard like in the pic above it would be better looking imo.
As characters I think they look great, I just don't want to romance them. And hey it's a game and games are for fun, so I can be shallow and want my romances to be good looking
Yes yes yes yes. Lucky us.

I think one of the biggest issues regarding this is that rather than making it equal...it felt like to a lot of players that Bioware went the exact opposite direction. I'm not so much concerned about numbers as I am about the romantic interest's motivations/ideology. Both Cass and Josie seem like they will be coming from similar viewpoints on the world. While the other sexual orientations get a wider variety between their choices in terms of character.

And I definitely agree. I would love for games to be more egalitarian when it comes to their cast of characters, and how you, as the PC, can represent yourself in the game with as many options and choices as reasonably possible.
But still, saying all the straight players got the most options rubbed me the wrong way, particularly when straight male gamers - the most commonly catered-to demograph - got the same amount as gay males and females.
Ffff, I'm still rambling about this. Time for some hot chocolate.

Well, to be fair, I think the OP actually said "straight people" not "all straight people". It seems like a semantic difference, but it does make a difference. One statement is incorrect and the other is correct.
But, in general, I agree that hot chocolate sounds awesome!
I can't relate, because Cassandra is definitely my type. And Josephine is my other, secondary type. I'm COMPLETELY catered for.
Alistair wasn't available in DA:O. Just saying.
Bwahahaha!! Nor Sebastian!
Romance options has always been a big addition to the reason that I replay the game.
Same here, which is why I don't see myself replaying DAI much
If it's a really amazing game, I'll make a second inquisitor. But all three of my preferred love interests being straight really kills replayability for me. I also only played DAO only twice, so... whereas DA2, wow, I can't even count how many times I've played that!

I actually don't mind one bit that the most options went to our straight sisters, rather it go to this demographic than the usual. Happy for you girls.
I got two options that I'm quite content with already, I'm set.

Ha, I'm romantic ace. I do appreciate it, though!
The one female Inquisitor I plan on rolling is going to be torn between Josephine and Sera. They're both fantastic in their own ways.
I must agree; if I play a straight male character (which I play most often), I only get two possible romance options, neither of which seems terribly appealing (although perhaps they will be way cooler than they seem atm).
I had personally hoped for Vivienne, as she seems very much what I would want in a romance companion, but mostly, I like to have a few more options in general. I apologize if this is too much a "dead horse", but I think giving feedback numerically is useful, as well as interesting/unique posts.
You can't get everything you want in this world. The writers did NOT intentionally write the characters to deprive you. They have the RIGHT to write the characters as they see fit. They DO NOT OWE US anything. Sure there are some things that I would like in the game but I do NOT expect the game developers to cater to my needs. I plan to try all the romances. If a person can't roll another character thats their own issue and the writers should not be held responsible because they can't adapt to change.

Well my first playthrough is set in stone, dat Sera tbh. Planing to pursue Jo in my second run female qunari perhaps and Cass third run. That's the plan but usually my plans go awry and I fall into repetition, if I enjoy Sera's too much I'm doomed. ![]()

Jesus, same. I intend to run all the character romance arcs at least once, because they're all interesting characters and you can learn more about them through said arcs, but I'll get pulled in between repeating Bull's and Sera's for infinity.
...
As far as doomed fates go though, I think these are the least terrible are inquisitor's could go through.~
Straight - Cassandra, Cullen, Blackwall, Solas
Bisexual/Pansexual - Josephine, Iron Bull
Gay/Lesbian - Dorian, Sera
4/2/2
Ahhh, thank you very much. ![]()
The only disappointment i have is that varric isnt a romance option. I wanted to slide my fingers through that chest hair. Good thing i still have josie and dorian
I did too lol Varric is the man
I did too lol Varric is the man
, BUT I will finally get my Cullen, and Im kinda interested to see if you can break down Cassandras hardened exterior, if you watched the anime, or even paid attention to her during the progress of DA2, there is more to her under the Warrior exterior and I for one am anxious to explore this, see what is under the armor .... errrr so to speak ![]()
