Wow the romance options for this game are kinda disappointing

I was able to ignore it, thankfully.  Even after some time on the BSN, it still doesn't grate on me like it does with some other folks.  Doesn't mean I liked it though...

<shrug>  Maybe, but it isn't enough for me to avoid playing a female Hawke.  To each their own; I can certainly understand why some folks (including you) hate it and find it repellent.

I'm a bit confused.  Why is it okay if a lady quanri has the hip-strut, but not anyone else?

For what it's worth, I do agree with you about the stupidity of that strut and I'm not happy to see it's return.

Because I can tolerate it more on her. That's all. It's just preference XD

I don't why they didn't just give Cassandra Aveline's animations. Seems much more fitting.

At least they didn't keep DA2's human female idle animations, though.

What are you even talking about? Did you even saw the last gameplay videos? she even walks with "the breaking the hips" animation.

I hate that animation so goddamn much.

I could tolerate it on a femqunari (hell I liked it on her) but on my humans that's gonna bother the hell out of me.

I'm not crazy about it, but having little choice about walking similar to that way in real life, it doesn't offend me. And my hips are not broken. It's the arm motion during the run that bugs me more than the walk.

It's the run that bothers me more than the walk.

If the walk was that and the run was more neutral I wouldn't care because I'd be running most of the time anyway.

But it's both =/

I guess I could play my females as mages and my dudes as rogues and warriors.

Lol.  I loved taking female Hawke, Merrill, and Isabela around and letting them stand around looking like they were grinding out cigarette butts.  It's synchronized fidgeting!

I remember watching people walk around while waiting on someone at an airport very recently. Didn't see ONE woman walk like the Inquisitor. No silly hip sway anywhere. Nearly everyone around me was  busy, or too tired or needed to get places quickly (we were in an airport doi) so there was no time for butt swaying. I would think a leader of an inquisition would also not waste concentration making sure her butt swayed just right while she was knee deep in a swamp either XD.

Back on topic I love the romances this time around , I honestly can't decide who I'd romance first!

Meh, I like the female animations. A lot better than ME2's femshep by far.

I have been told I have a very "girlie" walk, maybe that is why it doesn't bother me.

As for Cassandra, I think she is absolutely stunning. The females are all pretty attractive. I am not too keen on Solas, but I like Blackwall. He is very rugged.

The hip strut is approximately 90% of the reason I didn't play FemHawke

Sadly it seems they decided to keep that walk for Inquisitor or at least one close to it. Ugh, it's going to be hard playing fem!Inquisitor.

Among available romances and companions, a lot has already been told but there is one thing I suppose everybody will agree: there is no dwarf that can be romanced (unfortunatly) and among females, there are only human and elf companions. There is no female dwarf neither qunari... Sadly.

Spoiler

Maybe you should check the changes done to Cassandra, you will be surprise. Sure the short hair is there but she is lean and small even, her features are a lot more soft, she even walks like Isabela now. I bet you gonna to like that.

In the first picture, does she have some sort of braid wrapped around the crown of her head?

I'm hoping we can get an animation replacement mod like DA2 had.

My hopes aren't high though.

That is unfortuante, in origins, I kind of wanted a dwarf available to romance for one of the dwarf characters. from what I know of inquisiton, we do have a dwarf npc in our group, Dagna. While she is not a companion who joins us in battle, I read that she makes our traps and gadgets for the Inquistion. But I really do wish that we got a dwarf romance companion.

I agree. The romances have seemed to get less awesome every game.

The straight male options seem to be very lacking in this game, I was hoping for sera but nope, shes gay or at least vivienne but she's not interested either, not much left beyond that...

I smell Kelly Chambers on this one.

If Josephine really is like Chambers... ugh... that really would only leave Cass... and I wasn't a big fan of hers to start with.

That's all ignoring the fact that the devs have flat out stated that the NPC romances have as much as of the word budget as the companion ones.  Folks are really jumping to conclusions about whether or not they'll like a romance before the game has even come out.

On first impression, I'm left feeling "meh," on the romances themselves.  However, since I haven't played the game, I'm not going to assume automatically that all of the romances I'm going to experience will suck.

Looks also really don't matter to me much.  For example, I romanced Garrus in ME2, and he's not conventionally good looking.  His personality is what attracted me as a player to try the romance.  Good thing I played the game and got to know Garrus before judging him solely on little tidbits and just his looks alone.  Otherwise, I would have written him off without giving him a chance.

I have this funny thing where I believe in playing a game before I judge too much about the characters or how I'll feel about them as romances.   Crazy, I know, but it's less stressful than spending the next 5 weeks or so upset over something that probably won't even matter when the game comes out.

It'll go from "I hate my choices" to "Why my LI choice is better than yours" within less than a week after launch.  Mark my words.

I hope that Josephine is more like Samantha Traynor then chambers. I don't mind chambers, but Traynor, on the other hand was much more enjoyable. Plus Traynor actually felt useful and fun to talk to. kelly chambers, not really.

Of course I am reserving my judgement as to whom my inquistor will romance till I interact with them. I care more about who the character is and if I like them, as well as if that character's personality fits my inquistors.

Your conduct informs the assumption that beyond your unimaginative definition of attractive, you place no value on a character, nor have you any respect, particularly towards women, as you have repeatedly demonstrated in your commentary thus far. I imagine this socially harmful view of people extends beyond the internet, and self-perpetuates in the seclusion of your starving mind. So no, finding a person unattractive does not make you a troll, but “troll” I think would best describe you, regardless. Okay? Okay.

Wait a moment, when did cassandra become a real woman? Last time I checked she was made out of pixels and performed superhuman features. There is no need to respect a character of a videogame and I fail to see how it relates to my view of women. Besides, I would gladly trade Cassandra for a dwarven or qunari LI making your point moot. So Dr Feel, only thing I do is smell a nice doce of smug from your post.

Believe me, I am trying!! But it seems like every single thing that comes out about either of my choices is just the opposite of what I find interesting or attractive. Their personalities especially. It's disheartening! I'm actively moving away from caring about romances now. I just try to think about how good the story will be, and hope I can create a decent-looking character (though the glimpses at CC leave me doubting that, too.).

I wouldn't have thought that Merrill would really fit, since she seems to have some different idle animation compared to F!Hawke and Isabela.
