Sebastian says something to the effect of 'sorry things didn't work out, if things were different..." out of nowhere really. And Varric doesn't mention him in the epilogue. There are good reasons besides the chaste thing not to count him as a romance.

lol

Man Seb's just ice cold. D:

Doesn't have a "I'm here for you." scene after all that remains and not even a damn kiss. Seb needs to step his game up. Tut tut.

Agreed; just watch Mr. Gaider's "Sex in Video Games" talk and it will become obvious that it is so NOT all about the money, especially for the writers, artists, and other creative people on the team. Yes, an artist has to put food on the table, but that does not mean s/he must create solely for profit, what an insult to the team!!

I was not talking about the team. I was talking about the people that are the teams bosses...or more so their bosses as in the big wigs at EA.

When I was talking about criticizing yes that falls on the team.

When I was talking about profits and money that goes to the people in charge of it all.  The "suits".

Who doesn't love a Bobby Kotick? lol

Sadly Sebastian is probably more realistic than the other romances Bioware has written.

I like Seb. He's stable, at least by DA2 standards.

That's kinda like saying a pink elephant is more realistic than a neon green one tho.

Not gonna lie, this made me chuckle. I disagree entirely.

You must have better luck than me then, dumped unexpectedly with no explanation is not uncommon. Although to be fair I got Fenris'd too though (let's get back together after I disappear for a very long time!)

Romances are going to be a common complaint leading up to Inquisition.  If someone didn't know what dragon age was, coming here they would think it's a romance sim.  :P

I think there should be a dedicated Romance thread(or a whole section) encompassing romance related talk besides the character devoted threads.

I like Seb. He's stable, at least by DA2 standards.

Well no one enslaved him, wiped his memories, or raped him, so he's good on that account. He's not persecuted for who he is, either, nor is he possessed by a spirit, so yeah, he's pretty stable lol Not that he has to work at it.

You know I am replaying the games to refresh my memory and I have to admit I think the Lady Aeducan/Gorim Romance was pretty good.

I was super disappointed to find out that Lady Aeducan couldn't reconnect with Gorim.  There was like a line or two difference between her and Lord Aeducan and then it was back to "Dwarven goods!  Fine dwarven goods!".........  I loved Gorim being a dedicated shield to his Lady.

Ugh. Even if you don't count Sebastian as a romance option, he IS a flirt option, and that matters.

I agree I felt that not having a chance to reconnect with Gorim was really sad I hoped they would have a happy ending oh well theres always headcannon/Fan Fiction. :)

Well if we are counting Sebastian we should count Tallis too (Seb's dlc too)... she even grants a kiss, unlike chaste boy.

That would make it even for DA2, though I suppose since Tallis is bi that would still make it horrendously unfair and a crime for some.

I think people are confusing "romances" with "flirts".  Tallis is a flirt option.  You can have a few flirty lines of dialogue and the most you can get from her is a kiss.  There is zero chance of a relationship coming out of it.  Tallis will always leave and there's no way to continue it beyond the scope of that single quest.

The difference with Sebastian is that:  1.)  his romance takes place over a series of events and is not limited to a single interaction or questline; and 2.) the romance can culminate in an actual relationship beyond the flirting.  You have the option to end up with him beyond that questline and into the epilogue.  That's the big difference for me.

The one piece of evidence that I think supports Sebastian not being a romance is the fact that this game has a romance achievement but Sebastian's romance doesn't unlock it.  Otherwise, he's a romance.  Just because he is a chaste romance with less content doesn't mean he's not one.

Their true nature is tired.

Most groups get the same number of options, whether you like those options is either blind luck or a reflection of your own elitism. The straight male romance camp throwing up these threads twice a week is kind of... dull.

To be fair, this thread is asking for something specific, which is better.

Or amused in my case.

Even if you don't count Dragon Age 2 at all, straight female player characters in total in Bioware games have gotten more romances than gay male or gay female player characters. Inquisition is just furthering that disparity. And no, the fact that Solas & Cullen are racegated does not mean that it's trivial.

Eh, achievements are meaningless to me in this regard, don't really care if a character grants it or not. Him not granting it isn't really a reason to not consider him a romantic option, he's just a different romantic option (clarifying here that I DO consider him a romance).

But imo, Tallis is just as fulfilling in that regard (more so actually), even if its just a series of flirts that doesn't technically lead anywhere (it could do so in the future if we go by certain info elsewhere...). Besides for many people a chaste romance is just as unfilfilling anyway.

So err, I'm sticking with my assessement that DA2 was technically even in regards to the LI ratio.

Not like it really matters to me anyway, all I care about is good options, not fairness.

I don't recall any equivalent to Tallis or Sebastian for gay males.
