She isn't heterosexual which was my point.

I don't really understand this logic, because she isn't heterosexual she doesn't count as an option to Straight males?

It's the same logic that a bisexual woman can't speak for either a straight one or a lesbian one because their opinions can't be anything near the same level.
This b.s. is everywhere. *eyeroll* Personally, I don't get it.

EDIT: Pansexual too for that matter.

-_-

It's called "an unfortunate lack of in game female Qunari available to use as an example."

So true... :/

Apparently my initial post was misunderstood.

I said the only straight option for males was cass.

That was in so far as character sexuality not pc.

no my point was that no one is going to look like the comics... Isabela barely even looks like herself.

Isn't there an old saw about assumptions?

I guess, though the same does go for gay males and Lesbians only having "one option"

I will admit to raising my eyebrows slightly as it seemed like Solas was being passed around like a hot potato in old romance threads. M/m players wanted him to be straight and f/m players wanted him gay.

I only felt that way about Iron Bull, never Solas. Solas is my bae.

Except for the female qunari PC shown in demos? She's not nearly as sexed up as that comic specimen.

They make an add of you and me both? I think that's it.

Anyway to the point you didn't even bother to see my response before launching a fairly inaccurate tangent about my apparent views on sexuality.

It was frankly incorrect.

Sexuality Brotha! Basically this is what Master Warder was trying to explain:

M!Heterosexual: Cassandra <3

F!Heterosexual: Blackwall, Cullen and Solas

M!Homosexual: Dorian

F!Homosexual: Sera

Bisexual: Josephine

Pansexual: Iron Bull

I understood the "assumption" bit. lol I just didn't get why you said it. I did see your original post though but apparently misunderstood it too.

That out of the way though; Why does her sexual orientation matter? Or is it just heterosexual representation in general? Or straight female NPC rep?

(I am legitimately trying to understand, by the way. Not trying to sound sarcastic or whatnot.)

Ah! Thank you. Get it now. :)

@Master Warder; you can totally ignore my previous post.

I think it's because Sebastian isn't very well liked. Sort of like "Yeah I got an extra present but it was a fuscia sweater." Which can lead to a (false) impression that he's just being used to score points and the people complaining wouldn't want him if it was an option.

I will admit to raising my eyebrows slightly as it seemed like Solas was being passed around like a hot potato in old romance threads. M/m players wanted him to be straight and f/m players wanted him gay.

Oh god I lost it at this comparison.

So many christmas (and since my birthday is right after christmas I got trolled twice). "You gave me slippers. Why couldn't you just give me the money you used to buy the slippers?" *screaming internally*

Yes #first world problems

But yes Seb's an extra option. I just kind of laugh when people are treating it like he's an option on the level of the rest of the LIs. Yeah no. Not even close.

And no he didn't even need sex either. A comforting scene similar to Aveline's and a love scene where the two of you express love and then talk or even just cuddle would've been just fine.

And yeah I admit I passed Solas around too. Nosferatu looking isn't my type. Then his personality got revealed and I was intrigued and willing to look beyond the bald, then elf only and now I'm back to "ugh Nosferatu don't care anyway."

I will install a mod that gets rid of that beard from Blackwall so fast.

Though I suspect he'd need an entire face mod because they probably used the beard to hid some crazy chin/cheek action.

This thread is always fun. Yes, straight male romances are a bit of a bummer this time around, but since we've been pandered too in pretty much every game ever, I think we'll live.

Plus, let's face it: more female gamers are likely to care about romances as opposed to males. Generalizing of course, I'm sure there are plenty of male players who care, but still. I could just be projecting, because I'm not monogymous IRL and the relationships in these games feel very shallow to me often.

This is actually a good point. The vast majority of fanfiction is written by women for example and women are way more likely to watch romantic movies than men.

Well, yes, but because of the lack of in-game female Qunari I have very little to go on aside from the Qunari Inquisitior. I thought of using her as an example because she's lovely, but I did not want to invite any potential reactions similar to what dear Cass has received  :crying:

Oh. Well at least it's an improvement on Dragon Age 2 where you didn't have ANY romance options at all, that must have been awful for you!

Yeah, let me be really clear:  I do not agree with the straight males who are claiming that they are somehow being "underrepresented" or "lacking options" or "losing options" or other such (imo) nonsense.  Straight males are getting two options, same as everyone else who is not a straight female (and if I want to split hairs, straight elven and human females, specifically) and same as in the other two DA games prior.

However, that being said, there is legitimacy to a straight guy who wants to see a wider variety within their options.  I support that because, as has been pointed out, 5 out of 6 of their options in DA have been human women.  It would be nice for them to get a wider variety of racial options.

Exactly.  It is not the same thing to ask "elf" or "qunari" or "dwarf" representation because they are fictional races (using 'dwarf' to specifically refer to the fantasy race and not humans with dwarfism, which is a different thing).  That is totally different than asking for representation for existing groups of people in the real world.

This is a false comparison for several reasons.  I'll let you figure out why.

Whether it is or isn't is irrelevant. It's all just inane grumbly which was my point. Seriously though if you hate the options and the romances mean that much to you don't buy the game.
