Ok Wardens, lets see if there is any love for the Templars in DA:I. I know there is a lot of hate going around the Templars these days, and the ideology behind then with the modern day religion plays behind the in-game focus of the Templars. But i dont want ppl hating Templars for that reason, but i want the true reason behind you love/hate relationships of the Templars, in relation to the Mage's circle and war that breaks out in this installment of the game.

If i didn't adore you as a character in the EU i'd tell you to do naughty things to yourself involving a broom handle Palpatine!

Definitely for! Anti-Templars are a lot more outspoken, I think.

I think they're misguided and need to be reformed.

edit: I'd rather they be replaced by a more effective organization.

A toughie. Honestly, if you put a gun to my head, I'd be with the mages. They need support and help. The Templars have the common folk on their. The mages have/had Anders.

Nobody wants that idiot advocating anything

Undecided. Need to see the circumstances within the game.

I can agree with this. I'm not anti-templar in the sense that I'm going to automatically go kill-mode on every templar I see. There are many good individual templars, after all. It's the system they work for I don't like.

For i answer correctly.
I have no disdane for the order its filled mostly with people i believe are good and fair people. But like any group there are bad ones which i do have a disfane for. Ill admit my views are colour by idealism and a ideal aspiration for "justice" for mages(preffered class)occasionally forgetting they are a nesscary evil for thedas. While i disagree with other fans i try to seek understanding of my fellows opinion and see things from different perspective. Ultimatly i side with magi but i hope to be reasonably informed rather than decieding based on emotion

I hate the templars because they're evil ****s.

More specifically, I hate them due to assuming a position of independent authority over the Circle that they should never have had, abusing the living hell out of it, then declaring war on the Circle after it seceded from the Chantry (having to secede themselves to do so).

No member of the Templar Order has any possible excuse anymore, not after the split between Chantry loyalists and Order renegades. This time, there will be no half-measures and no mistakes.

While the system needs work, Mages are too dangerous to keep around without good countermeasures that non-mages can rely on to keep themselves safe.

Mages have a huge advantage over normals, and the only societies where they don't rule seem to be those that put limits on what they're allowed to do.

So really, either Mages eventually take over because of their huge advantages, or we have good anti-magic trained warriors who can counter them.

Also, Mages are capable of so much dangerous **** that someone has to be watching them for the sake of everyone else, and having the Mages simply police themselves might raise too many conflicts of interest.

I am Pro-Mage and Pro-Templar.

Mages should not be abused, but at the same time we need people who can deal with them when they break the law and keep an eye on them so that they don't start mindcontrolling their way to ruling the world again.

The absolute worst thing about Templars that I've seen is the completely disgusting idea that any magical issue can be solved by killing and corralling mages.

Because instead of investigating, killing them is so much better an option.

That said, Carver and Cullen happen to be the only Templars I halfway like. Both because they grow tremendously and because they're pretty damn interesting
