The Maker says that we have to raise the hand of redemption and mercy. If templars show that they will continue to serve the chantry and spread mercy and benevolence, then I'll vote for. But crimes can't be pardoned without a real penance...

you have said in the past that you reject compromise between templars and mages
you have said how you would plan for total mage emancipation
Well, the templars have no place in any negotiations because their proper place was solely as the law enforcement arm of the Chantry, not the policy makers of the Chantry. I have, however, repeatedly stated that I'm willing to see the Circle work with the Chantry as part of it, provided the mages get fair representation within the Chantry's government and are unrestricted in the positions they can reach within it.

You're right. Merrill was prevented from being possessed and then took out her entire clan. She did something productive by removing Dalish.
then in the annulment that mistake can be rectified

Merrill was never going to be possessed, the demon already got Marethari. Also, it's pathetically easy to avoid killing the clan.

Lastly, she is literally no threat to ANYONE. That revolutionary everyone loves to praise so much is way more aggressive than she is.
Jowan, in comparison, is a perpetual coward who wants to right his wrongs but doesn't want to actually do hard work... Sounds idiotic to me. Plus, he's a terrible mage in comparison

I'm against them simply because they are controlled by the church. No religion should ever have a military. Although, what they do is not so bad. I like the idea of an organization that hunts down criminal mages. By that I mean mages that murder people. Any other mage should be treated with decency and not as if they were a disease. What a lot of templars lack is empathy towards the mages. I won't pick favorites in Inquisition. I won't be a full mage supporter or a full templar supporter. Since there are both good and bad people in each side and I'm sure we'll get to see all points of view. But if there can be no compromise then as much as I hate it, I would probably support the templars, despite not being a religious guy myself. The mages simply have too much power in their hands to be kept unchecked. Although it could be counter argued that the templars have too much power in the military, social and political sense as well, and I would agree.

I was never talking about Broken Circle.
Beside Jowan Broken Circle was the only time there was ever a problem with Ferelden's Circle

WHy did she ask Hawke to come with her? Because she knew the chances of her being possessed where extremely high. She was not possessed because the Keeper made sure that would not happen.

Merrill would have been possessed without Marethari, the result is the same as Uldred.
I'm not going to take responsibility for her being an idiot, sorry. She may look like a child, but she isn't mine.

That's a standard mage/templar thread, dalish thread, loghain thread, anders thread, and probably a couple of more I'm not coming to me right now.

The Mages must be put to the sword it is the best solution leave the corridors soaked with blood of mages and for the red templars the will loose both the faces and the names and there heads roll on the ground leave them broken and dead
Now now, I enjoy killing mages as much as the next guy but we need some of them around(after they're brought to heel of course) to combat humanity's racial enemies like the Dalish and the oxmen.

Ahem, who was the one living on the demon-possessed mountain for seven years despite constant entreaties to leave?
Beside Jowan Broken Circle was the only time there was ever a problem with Ferelden's Circle
Then clearly we have different definitions of "problem." A fascinating insight into the moral priorities we take.

You're right. Someone so thick with idiocy that instead of fighting the demon, she let it fester like a bad wound. Smart one, that Marethari

who was the one working on a portal to maker knows where despite constant entreaties by those smarter and more experienced to leave it the hell alone

If you trust the word of an abomination. Given that Marethari is both far more experienced and far more prideful and less able to see her own faults, I'm reasonably sure she was the demon's target all along.

None of them possessing experience in relevant fields, of course, and "smarter" generally only being in their own minds.

Very much so. I suspect that my foes tend to value the principles of loyalty, authority and sanctity rather more than I, with less emphasis on care and liberty.

Were they objectively smarter and actually cared for her well being, they'd have forced her to stop.
