Well i do think that bioware poiints were reverted to Dollars and cents so now if you want to buy it should be coming up showing you how much money rather than points i think.

EA shut off the ability to use Bioware points to buy ME 3 Multiplayer packs because of a bug where the store would steal the points but not give the pack. They did this two and a half. years. after. the bug was first reported. and at a time when the multiplayer support developer team was long gone to other projects.
EA will, however, give you a refund for the asking if you explain that you bought Bioware points for use in ME 3 Multiplayer and were not able to use them.

There's always cool things to get on Origin depending on what's available. You could try some of the DLCs, but using real money just to buy packs would be a waste since it's all random, and if you're just starting out, you probably won't get many good things out of it.

Okay. Update.
Verified, it is still possible to buy Spectre packs for 160 Bioware Points.
It is, however, NOT possible to buy Veteran Packs, Premium Spectre Packs, Equipment Packs, Arsenal Packs, or Reinforcement Packs with Bioware Points.
