Much of humanity grows up having to define and defend our identity against actual violence, without the remotest possibility of society's/bystanders' sympathy or assistance. As such verbal stuff on the internet seems like something you can laugh off or switch off, surely.

Offended as in my dignity or pride has been wounded? No. Annoyed and jimmies rustled? Yes. Though I try to not let the latter get to me, there have been a few cases that got me vexed. And there has only been one stand out case in recent memory that really frustrated me. But I wouldn't get bent out of shape over it. Definitely try and handle it with humor or at the very least be calm about it.
But I only would get annoyed about it, in the confines of the online outlet. I don't think I could let it truly affect me off line. If I did then there is probably some sort of underlying issue I should get looked at.

I get offended by homophobes and people who say they are not prejudiced and then demonstrate that they are. There was one time on this forum where I made a post about people's experiences (not going to go into it) and literally everyone did not read the question, proceeding to call me fake and an attention seeker when all I did was ask for opinions. It wasn't nice being singled out when other people in the same part of the forum were posting near enough the same stuff. Sometimes I do need to learn not to take people so seriously though.
If I'm arguing with someone who has a superiority complex or resorts to victim blaming, I get angry, but these people are negative so I get over it pretty quickly. It only hurts me if they sum up my entire character based on a few characters on a screen, basically.

I get offended over stupidity. But since that's part of the human condition, and I'm human too, I try not to go overboard on judgement. Sometimes things need to be said, though. And they may not always be what people want to hear.
