And yes, it will take years to get through all of these characters, but hey. DAO is almost six years old now, DA2 is three, and I still play them regularly. I can easily see myself playing DAI for ages from now.

Archer Rogue Kossith. Quiet, reserved, and very good at killing things. She likes 'Phine( say it like fine because wine) because she's bubbly and nice, a 180 from the types of people she's usually around.

Brandon Trevelyan with Iron Bull

Mage Human. Totally obnoxious and very aggressive to people who think differently than him. Pro-Mage, anti-Templar, and interested in taking down each establishment that even THINKS of oppressing mages. Bull is totally gonna have his hands full up with this guy, as much as he disses the Qun.

Owynne Lavellan and... I guess either Cullen or Blackwall?

Sword and Board Dalish lady! Funny, helpful, and generally nice. Has a thing for human dudes that the Dalish have tried to restrict by taking some freedoms away. Didn't go well.

Verae is first. After that, it's a free-for-all!

  ...Looking at it now, most of these pairings are near opposites. I guess I'll have to see how they all work out.

Male Human Mage for Cassandra. He's an older gent. Yet charming and a little flirty. Quite similar to Rhys actually, but perhaps a little bit of Gavin Guile from the Lightbringer Saga in there too

Male Qunari Warrior for Cassandra. It's either one of these two. I'll try the prologue with them both to see what I prefer.

 

Male Human Rogue for Josephine. Aiming for something along the Scoundrel Archtype.

 

Female Qunari Mage for Sera. Either similar to Sera in personality or a bit of a Stoic. 

 

Female Human Warrior for Blackwall. All I know is she'll be about 21, to add a little more tragedy to the relationship 

 

Don't know about any other yet.

1. Two-Handed Reaver Beyazkurt Adaar with Cassandra. Strong and silent type, romantic inside. I forsee a lot of awkward moments between them.

2. Artificer Arya Cadash with Blackwall. Obsessed with tech. A little spitfire with attitude. Carta celebrated and praised the Stone when she left. Probably responsibilities and relationship will anchor her a bit. Probably...

3. Champion Joanna Trevelyan with Sera. Arrogant, snobish and cold demeanor covering her inner insecurities. She sort of lost her purpose in life. She doesn't think much about elves. Actually she doesn't think much about anybody...

4. Templar Vithorin Cadash with Josephine. He actually hates his life with Carta and will be superhappy to go into Inquisition. He is so sound and respectable... and modest. And hates parties.

5. Knight-Enchanter Aynur Adaar with Iron Bull. Open-minded scientist filled with curiosity about everything. Very responsible about her magic abilities. She goes berserk during battles though.

I see some potential in these relationships to develop my avatars, to show their strong and weak sides and maybe change a little. Or a lot...

I'm not that thrilled about Cullen, Dorian and Solas and with the idea to play as an elf, but probably will eventually make human and elven mage and elven archer to try the other specialisations and backgrounds. If I like these men in robes and skirts enough, then romance. If not, youtube for them and celibate/brothel for my PCs.

6 or 9. (Depends on how much I like the game). Assassin Trevelyan with Blackwall. This PC will make the same decisions I would make and will have the closest personality to me. I will call her Meredith to honor my favourite DA 2 character.

A hardened Carta lady who's basically Rooster Cogburn/every noir hero in spa-- erm, Thedas, who'll be using sword and shield to protect her squishy team, and who will PROBABLY not hook up with anyone, unless Blackwall or Iron Bull are insanely charming. She will, however, foster any romances between companions to the best of her abilities. Cole will be the designated surrogate baby sibling who is too precious for this world.

 

Then I'm planning a giant pile of brooding, tries to be mean but easily caught in the feels qunari, gender indeterminate, who will probably go for Iron Bull.

 

Of course, none of my plans survive first contact with the games so far... Except back in Mass Effect 1, where I was like "This Shepard's going to die saving everyone at the end of things, huh?" AND I WAS RIGHT.

1st Playthrough: Female Elf Mage - Solas

2nd Playthrough: Female Human Rogue - Josephine

 

After that, there's no specific order to when I will play these characters:

 

Male Human Mage - Dorian

Male Elf or Human Mage - Cassandra

Female Human Mage - Blackwall or Cullen (Can't decide)

Female Elf Mage- Blackwall or Cullen (Will romance whoever my Human Mage does not)

Female Qunari Mage - Iron Bull

Female Elf Mage or Warrior - Sera

 

Looking over this, apparently I really like Mage/Warrior romances.

Qunari Male Warrior - aggressive; hedonistic (IB version 2.0 in this sense); has something to prove

Elf Male Rogue - antisocial; loner; well-meaning but awkward

Human Male Warrior - spoiled brat; charismatic

 

Solas

Elf Female Rogue - snarky; wary of magic & frightened of whats happening to her; 100% Dalish pride

Elf Female Mage - reserved and calm; soft spoken; pacifist

 

Cullen

Human Female Mage - determined leader; readily accepts responsibility; pro-Mage but fair to templars

 

Blackwall

Qunari Female Mage - very anti-Chantry/templars and Qun; fiercely independent and pro-Mage

It is my intention to play a Human Male Mage on my first play-through. As far as romances go...

 

I want to clarify that I am not trying to oversimplify anyone else's perspective, and should you choose to disagree with my appraisal of the situation, I accept it, fully. That said, where I am coming from, we are basically looking at yearbook pictures with little blurbs underneath -- we do not know who these characters truly are, and so because of that, it is difficult for me to say who I will romance for certain. I would like to get to know as much about the characters (from an in-game perspective) as possible before I make any decisions.

 

Perhaps our hearts will be pulled in a different direction than we have anticipated... only time will tell.
