No, but it's a passible action game. ;)

Please. It's a turn-based combat system (ATB), just like the series has been using since IV. Additionally, there are no character inputs in battle, only action inputs.

DA:O is more of an action game than FF XIII is.

Look like many game are coming to PC now. I was also quite surprised to see Unity being released on PC at the same time of the console.

The fact that Unity is next-gen only played a part in that, I think.

Apparently it's been confirmed that the Japanese audio for FFXIII will not be available outside of Asia:

I mean, for comparison, was Japanese audio available for the console release?

I think so, yes. I can easily check my 360 copy when I get home.

Is there any reason to own a console anymore?\

Like always, ease of use. And maybe a bit of popularity.

You can't even bloody control your companions. It's a **** game. **** gameplay, **** characters, **** story.

Nice music though.

Only part I even remember was Lightning punching Snow, which was like the only good part of the dam game.

"So far, I've established that the two lead-ish characters are named Lightning and Snow, which are both things that could ruin a picnic. There's also another guy called Hope, as in, "I Hope we can get these sandwiches back in the car before any Snow or Lightning happens" ~ Yahtzee Croshaw

What does not having control over your companions have to do with it NOT being an action game?

I'll disagree with you on every point, but I don't mind if we disagree. But saying it's an action game is objectively wrong.

I'm pretty sure not. Square doesn't like to give Japanese audio for FF games outside of Asia, for some reason.

It does make it a crappy turn base game, more so when the gameplay was as interesting as getting a finger in the bumhole.

Yeah I don't care for XIII but to call it an action game in the sense that it's NOT turne based is easily false.

You need to calm down with these hyperbolic comparisons though lol

The only thing FF13 has over it's western analogue (DA2) is prettier graphics.

This is where I get really disgusting and say that's actually quite--

JOKING JOKING.

Anyway.I disagree. The AI is fairly excellent. Only on very rare occasions is it worse than having control--and besides, unless the gameplay is truly STOPPPED, it moves too fast for you to control three characters. Heck, I get a little behind with just one sometimes. That was the previous games' (VII at least) problem. It's streamlining, but it makes for a better battle experience.

And eighty hours of gameplay, and far more complex strategies once you stop falling on the "auto-battle" crutch.

I gave up at chapter 10, grew tired of forcing my self through that craphole.

Then I went and replayed FF6 and laughed at how bad 13 was and how Terra Branford was not only the first female protag, she was way better better too and not some Cloud knockoff.

FFXIII had the "resolve" button where the game would essentially just resolve the combat for you and you could sit back and watch Vanille and Hope talk about something completely ****** irrelevant as you slowly realize that almost 10 hours in and it's still the prologue and the plot isn't bringing us anywhere so far.

It's safe to say that the combat was a boring, dull, affair in relation to FFXIII

I pity you. I really do.

Just beat the Verceringeraefeofijefoiexxx.

Wasn't anywhere as hard as I was expecting, just gotta know what to do it seems. Had five roles maxed out.

Vanille, Light, and Fang of course. Controlling Fang, simply because I want to be in on the action and not a SEN :P

I started out with...Exploitation I think. Fang COM, Light SAB, Vanille SAB. Hit it with that until Poison sticks, then switch to Diversity.

Then, when he activates Impenetrable Aura, I switched to Convalescence--Fang SYN, Vanille and Light MED. I do Bravera, Faithra, Protectra on myself and on one of the others, varying it. There's only really time to do two people and maybe half of a third, so I just skip the third.

Then when it breaks out, go back to Exploitation. Same thing all over again.

When it grows six wings it starts getting brutal, so I change it up to Light as a SEN, because of her Elude skill, its pretty much amazing. This time I have Fang and Vanille as SABs, so Fang can cast Slow while Vanille's sticking Poison. Paradigm is Countermeasure.

Then jump to Solidarity, Fang COM Vanille MED and Light SEN, and whale away while Poison whittles away.

When it does Wicked Whirl I jump to Tortoise, all three as SENs, jumping back out afterwards.

Rinse and repeat, blah blah blah.

So:

Exploitation until Poison
Diversity until Impenetrable Aura
Convalescence until leaving IA

Loop until six wings, then:

Countermeasure until Poison and Slow
Solidarity until Impenetrable Aura
Convalescence until leaving IA

Loop.

Just beat Cid, again.

That really is a fantastic fight.

Using the best team (controlling Fang, with Light+Vanille), I started off with some Exploitation (SAB+COM+SAB). Cast Slow ASAP, because Cid's a machine. I tried to get as many status ailments on him as possible--got around five, including Slow, Deprotect, Poison, Imperil, and...I think it was Curse.

Anyway, by this time he's moved to his Defensive Shift and he's just standing there. Use this time to heal up (with Diversity--COM+RAV+MED), then start attacking with Relentless Assault (COM+RAV+RAV). Then he comes back with a vengeance. Jump back to Diversity. Jump to Solidarity (SEN+COM+MED) when he hits with Seraph Ring (I THINK it's "ring," anyway).

After Seraph, he usually dispels then buffs himself. I let things heal up to green, then go back to Exploitation and try to knock off his Haste, and get Slow in if I can.

The nice thing about Saboteurs is that they increase the chain gauge, so by this time Cid is pretty near the stagger point. When there's a chance, jump back to Relentless Assault or something and let the Ravagers bring him to stagger, then launch him with Fang. It's all over from there.

More recently, I've been using Aggression once I get to around 400 or 500% stagger. So both Light and Fang are hitting for major damage, while Vanille continues to drive up the chain.

5:21, or 5:31, for a projected 12 minute fight. Oh yeah.

It's about...I think twenty at the beginning. Then it opens up to Pulse. Then it gets linear again for the end for about ten hours or so.
