to get my feet wet.  I'm sure I'll get decimated but I like to start a game or two on my own just to get the lay of the land before starting true mp.  Now I just have to chose a class to try it with.

This did have me wondering if that there were going to be any tutorial areas included before actual Quests were presented.

I think your tutorial will consist of 'Ouch!  I just got drubbed!  Better learn from that next game!'  Much like mass effect.  :)

Yep, this sounds like the tutorial  :D

Going solo is not a bad idea just to get the hang of things,

but how instructive it will be iI'm not sure.

There will a lot of noob multiplayers at launch so it might also be fun stuffing it all up together.

Lay of the land is going to be a bit trickier in this MP than it was in ME3 until we learn all 10 areas of each map.  But it may be to our advantage a little bit as well.  Now that we are progressing through areas instead of running circles around the same confined space. it may mean that we have a little more breathing room between "waves" by slowing our progression forward into the next conflict point.

Though that may mean that higher difficulties may be much harder in the sense that until you progress the enemies will just keep coming at you as they push towards you instead of you pushing towards them.  Allowing further conflict points basically to reinforce until you clear them all.

Not a bad idea.  This is all new to me so go in cold by myself and see what goes on.

Any know if this mode will have built in voice comms?  Or would we have to set up party chat in PS or XBox consoles?

I'll end up doing the same. Just to get a feel for the interface and get some basic mechanics down.

I'm going to play a drinking game.

Every time the group wipes you finish your drink.

If you personally die then you drink continually until revived.

I'll add more rules as I go.

If DAIMP works in a similar method as ME3MP then starting off most will not be able to do much and we all will have to grind to get strong enought to the first quest completion.

I did this with ME3MP. I didn't last very long but it helped me get accustomed to not being able to pause. When I finally got up the courage to join other people I found I wasn't that much worse than anyone else and everyone was super helpful. It was a lot more fun as well. I will probably do the same thing this time just to get a handle on the controls, but I won't wait as long to move to play with others. :)

SP is the tutorial. Seriously though, it sounds as though the difficulty curve might be much higher than ME3MP, but then again, if you are used to soloing previous SP DA outings, as some do, perhaps you will have no problems with solo DAMP runs.

Let us know how this goes. I am really curious to read about your results. Or maybe to get used to the system, some of us could all solo... together... as a group. ;)

I expect many members of the DAMP group on this forum will be friending each other, so we'll have a pool of folk who are not full randoms.

ME3MP allowed you to randomly search 'friends' so that should work here.

I suggest using the assasin. The cloak ability works wonders and allows you to check the entire area with being detected. You may even be able to hit and run for the first area or two to get some exp and loot.

May Andraste be with you. I'm planning to lie dead on the ground for the 50 first games while my team is clutching the waves. And then I'm rich.

Learning the game in a solo? So you wouldn't embarrass yourself in a team match?

Running back to team matches because you got stomped in wave 1? Tossing all self-esteem overboard accepting you're a scrub and let yourself be carried?

Ah, those were the times. I guess I'll do it all over again, too.

I think that if I were today to play ME3 on a brand-new account, with a level 1 character with rank 1 common weapons and no consumables, I could very slowly solo a bronze match.

But I also think if my first time playing had been with three other people in that boat, we would have gotten destroyed.

You could probably do Platinum as long as you were good enough at kiting and map control.

Might take about 5 hours, though =P

Yeah, I'm going to try a solo game or two before I jump in with other players. I'd like to get a handle on how it works before diving in.

Like many before have stated, I am of the opinion that when we first start playing DAMP, soloing will be difficult, even on the equivalent to Bronze. (I forgot what they call it, but yall know what I am talking about)

However as time goes on, as skill, progression and items are unlocked, I am pretty sure there will be a fun and rewarding little SOLO X going on. I really enjoyed that with ME3MP.
