Previously it was 50 extra points of health over the other races and now its a bonus of 10% to melee defense. I've overjoyed at this development as I always thought the extra health was the weakest boon. The fact that it's so low (10% vs. 25% for the Elves and Dwarves) should be a tip off as to how useful its going to be.

I'm still getting 50 health.

Hope it's true though, the melee defense sounds better.

That's interesting.  I never noticed the health bonus.  Probably because I never really used Sten much in my group in DA:O and aside from a quest in DA2, there weren't any Qunari to have as teammates.  Iron Bull seems a fitting tank and with this bonus, it should prove useful.

A fixed number would be less relevant as we level up, no? I mean 100->150 is a lot, but 1000->1050 is not a lot.

I can't remember what the racial bonuses were in origins, but I doubt their identical to what we're getting in this game. Also, it hasn't been confirmed that these bonuses even apply to companions in Inquisition.

I prefer the 10% melee defense over the health boost.

Which is exactly why I was skeptical of the previous health bonus being useful past the first few hours of playtime.

Can anyone confirm that they see the same change on the site as well just so I know?

Way better since will be playing a mage and things go after mages fast so more defense before the tank can pull something off is always good.

I don't see why they should be harder to hit in combat, they're bigger targets after all.

Could mean they're just better at taking hits, I suppose.

Yeah, but it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine them being able to take more of a beating and being better at deflecting attacks.

That's better. A flat 50 health would probably be bad at later levels.

25% defence sounds great. The qunari are supposed to be tougher after all, not just look it. Hope it stays that way and it doesn't go back to 10%.

...Qunari master race confirmed?

Wellllll, we kinda already knew that with lore didn't we? We know from Ste, the Arishok and from the history of the Qunari Wars that Qunari are significantly stronger and tougher than humans on average. Hawke's duel with the Arishok is the type of thing that probably gave the impression to the players that even though they beat him, he was better than you (in most cases). :P

Heck, even in the Destiny trailer it kind of gave the impression that the Arishok was the more badass of the two. Destiny Hawke only won with a desperation power that the real Hawke never even had.

Hawke actually did have that power. I can't remember exactly how, but mage Hawke would sometimes finish off enemies by summoning a couple of demon hands to tear them in two.

Even end game you never got that much Health in Origins. If DA: I has the same health scaling then 50 health will remain useful.
