What?
1. Magic can easily on shot and disable a character in da.
2.In da2 do you not see the horde of archers in the game, added the bonus includes magical attacks as well.

I have't seen any warrior getting one-shot not even on nightmare. Hordes of melee enemies were MUCH MORE common than archers so I don't know what you're talking about. Qunari warrior will be the best because as a warrior who is 24/7 in melee range and taking melee damage its the best possible buff for a warrior.

Hmm... what if that's some kind of evolutionary response? Humans became physically attracted to elven women, because it broadens the spectrum of sexual partners, while giving viable children to humans, but not to elves?
That way humans can spread their genes at the cost of elves.
Dalish isolationism is in contrast the evolutionary response in that regard, a way of preserving elven genes (genes of those who mixed with humans went extinct)?

Yes, I study Life Sciences.
And yes, I'm fun at parties.

Or more simply:

Chances are that many humans have at least one recent elf ancestor. For these humans, someone in their family tree was attracted to elves.

However, the reverse is not true. There's a low chance that an elf has an ancestor who was attracted to humans, because that ancestor would have produced human children.

1. Say that after you get trapped in a crushing prion spell. Or when a Arcane horror cast spell in on nightmare in da2.

2. In DA2 there hordes of archers...Really they are. I'm not say it more then melee enemies but it close to the same amount.

I hope they update the human too. An extra skill point is lame especially after a few levels.

Not necessarily. If there really is a hard level cap the extra point could allow you to perfect a build that someone playing another race could never duplicate. The human bonus has the most versatility by far.

Is anyone still seeing the new melee defense bonus up on the site? The page won't load for me.

I saw 50 Health on my Mac at work today and +10% melee defense on my PC at home...

I have a feeling it's one of those things where you'll have to delete your web browser's cached content.

1. Even when you are locked in place by spells such as crushing prison you are usually swarmed by melee enemies.

2. That's simply not true. If say 10 enemies attack you this is the usual in DA2: 1 mage, 3 archers, 6 warrior or rouges. Melee enemies are always 60% or more of whole enemies. It has been the case for all games, DLCs etc...

It's not an extra skill point, it's an extra ABILITY point. That's an extra ability or spell you start with

This. It means that, without outside influence, the human is always going to be one ability ahead of the other three races. Quite useful.

2. You never fought the gangs, did you?

Confirmed. I had 50 Health, reloading the page didn't change it, so I cleared my browser cache. Now I've got +25% melee defense.

The page continues to flip-flop between 50 health, 10% & 25% melee defense, and not loading at all for me. I tried deleting my browsers cache. Weird.

Personally, I'd have gone with an overall damage resistance bonus, but melee defense is still better than a flat 50 health.  It will definitely be useful to qunari mages if they happen to get targeted by a melee rogue or warrior...

Short term thinking, 50% health doesn't sound like much, But an extra 50 mana that you have because you didn't spend it on health is more important melee defence.

The select a race and class section is blank today as it was yesterday for me... (Also IMO i think any passive bonus that keeps you alive longer is high priority for me)

Given its only a little under two months till release think the site must be heavily under work, at-least it seems that way with the flip-floping on some things for the site.

Like with the desc for dwarf mage, it has gone through three changes though the most recent didn't take right away.

Or maybe the devs are still deciding what is base.

Depends on how much health you can reach in the game. Till 200 health, 50 extra is strictly better than 25% melee defense. After that it depends on the enemies.

If health maximum reaches surpasses 200 health by a lot, then the new bonus is better.

At face value both suck, but the new one has potential that will depend on itemization and encounters. If 25% melee defense means that it allows the character to reach immunity level melee defense after gear, then it's beyond overpowered. It's broken. Wait and see I guess.

And leave the human one as it is. It's perfect. Thank you :P

This is getting pointless. The gangs always have more melee units than archers, I was just playing half an hour ago. Each one has two or more rouges who when coming out of stealth one-shot most characters. A warriors job is going toe to toe with enemies and Qunari bonus is the best one for warrior. Rogues who happen to be the most squishy class in DA will use dwarven and elven bonus much more efficiently than warriors. Same for mages.

I see 100% melee defence. Fix your site Bioware!

Or will Qunari characters be Havel?

Sorry, but I'm just not that impressed by +50 health as a racial bonus, regardless of class.  In any case, mages should be avoiding damage, not boosting their Constitution so they can soak up hits.  This is especially true now that we have such limited healing options in DA:I.  I guess you can build chars however you want, but placing too much emphasis on Con will only hamper a mage's ability to unleash hell on the enemy from extreme range.  If you go with Knight Enchanter, the mage's tactics will begin to favor close range combat, which means that melee defense would be pretty useful.  Whether this means that all damage from the attack is ignored or if melee hits have a 25% chance to become "glancing blows," it sounds like it would be more beneficial overall than a static health bonus that will inevitably become less useful as the game progresses.

1.....You never faced the sharps... Have you?http://dragonage.wik...ttle_Pinpricks\

These guy nothing but archers.

2. Worriers are not the only on that goes toe to toe with enemies. All classes can do it. And of course a rogue would want extra defense being so squishy.
