now I'm getting 10% melee defense.
Okay I just looked, I'm in Kansas and I'm still seeing +50 Health. I tried clearing my cache, I tried deleting Temporary Internet Files, I even tried with eww IE, all still show 50 health.

Or more simply:
Chances are that many humans have at least one recent elf ancestor. For these humans, someone in their family tree was attracted to elves.
However, the reverse is not true. There's a low chance that an elf has an ancestor who was attracted to humans, because that ancestor would have produced human children.
That's generally how it's always been in Dungeons and Dragons. Half-Elves are half-elves. Their child can be a human, or another half-elf depending on if the other parent was also an elf, but no matter how much their family stays "elf" from then on, they will always be a half-elf at best according to the social and mechanical rules.

American Qunari get +50 health, British Qunari get +10% defence?
edit: Any site except British seems to give me +50 health.
(Or I assume so. Possibly 50 Gesundheit just means German Qunari are really good at sneezing)
I've tweeted about this (and some of the other discrepancies on the DA site) so at least they'll be aware of it. If I find out what the actual Qunari bonus is supposed to be I'll post it here...

My Qunari apparently hail from America, as mine is currently reading +50 health and I'm in the UK... ![]()
Brit here, I see 10% melee defense.
Okay, the word from David Hulegaard is that the +10% melee defense is the correct bonus.
And they are looking into getting these (and some other) issues sorted out.

Any idea what this means exactly? 10% chance that melee hits become glancing blows or a 10% chance to dodge?

I believe it is the former. 10% for melee hits to do less damage to your Qunari.

Aww why couldn't it be 25% like the other racial bonuses ![]()

"Defense" in both Origins and 2, effectively meant "chance to dodge". I don't see why that would change for Inquisition...

10% does seem a bit low... even if melee is the most common damage type, they could have at least set it at 15-20%.

Yeah, but we had a Defense stat in DA2 that turned hits into "glancing blows" and we had a straight up dodge ability in DA:O that ignored damage entirely. It's roughly the same effect, but maybe I'm being greedy by hoping for the latter...
Also... what do the other racial bonuses do? Don't dwarves and elves both have a chance to ignore damage from magic or ranged attacks, or am I mistaken about that?

Nobody tosses a dwarf!
Beat me to it ><

Agreed.
Looks like Qunari keep getting the short stick *sigh*

Well, even still, it'll be great for Qunari mages, cause you don't wanna get whacked lol.
Humans still dominate the board entirely with that extra ability point.

Dwaves have magic defense, elves have ranged defense. Whatever "defense" means it's across the board...
Presumably Qunari have a lower percentage because there are more melee attacking units than any other, and it would put a Qunari character at a distinct advantage over other races in a melee fight...
Edit: By the by, can I have a link to the confirmation?

Yeah but it could be better :3
With the 8 slot limit I'm more meh to that.

This was one of the last in a bunch of tweets I fired off at David eariler today...
I've cleared the Temp Internet Files on both browsers and both are the most current version. I'm seeing 10% MelDef [Qunari Melee Defense - Hrungr]
David Hulegaard @HulegaardBooks
okay, cool. You're seeing the correct Qunari bonus, so that's good. Thanks for flagging all this. We'll get it sorted!

I don't see why it wouldn't. It's a different game.
That's not to say they have to change it because it's a different game, but they very well could.

Not my 25%.
Thanks for sorting it out Hrungr.
10% is what I originally noted the change as being and it seemed sufficient to me then (especially in comparison to the health bonus) just as it does now. Even though the percentage is lower it may still end up being the most useful boon overall depending on an assortment of factors that have already been covered in this thread. I think its safe to say that the vast majority of enemies will be dealing out melee damage and if that turns out to be true then a 10% damage reduction on its most common type may very well end up negating more damage overall than a 25% bonus would a rarer form of damage. Look past the number comparisons and consider the totality of the circumstances,
