Hello everyone!

Well, i'm gonna try to beat this game in Nightmare difficulty for a bit of challenge, but i was thinking of doing it with the most overpowered team my enemies could ever face. (Note: No awakening, only origins with the Shale's place DLC only cause i'm poor Q.Q)

So here are my thoughs on this:

Warden: Mage, Arcane Warrior (Full Tree) + Blood Mage (Until Blood Wound).

Sustained Spells: Combat Magic, Shimmering Shield, Miasma, Rock Armor, Arcane Shield, Any of the Elemental Weapons if possible :P

Normal Spells (Gonna be cast mostly while using Blood Magic): Mana Clash, Crushing Prison, Inferno, Blizzard, Tempest.

Stat build: Full magic

Weapon Choice: Sword and board for better damage output.

Armor: Heavy for tankiness.

Party members:

Wynne: Spirit Healer (Until Revival) + Blood Mage (Until Blood Wound).

Sustained Spells: Well, she already comes with Rock Armor anyway :/ And any of the elemental weapons plus Haste

Normal Spells: Most of them are the same as the Warden.

Stat build: Same as warden.

Weapon choice: Staff.

Armor: Cloth

Stat Build: Full magic

Morrigan: Screw Shapeshifter, pretend she only has Blood Mage (Until Blood Wound) :^)

Sustained Spells: Any of the elemental weapons plus Haste

Normal Spells: Same as Warden

Weapon Choice: Staff

Armor: Cloth

Stat build: Full magic

Zevran: Assassin (Until Lacerate) + Ranger (Full)

Abilities: Up to dual weapon expert; Up to Coupe de Grace; Up to Lethality; Full Device Mastery

Weapon Choice: Dual Dagger

Armor: uh, heavy ._.?

Stat build: Full Cunning, only necessary dexterity for Daggers and talents.

Rest of the points for talents are gonna be invested in extra CC, defensive capability, debuffing (like Afliction Hex), etc. Those i listed above are the most important.

But i still have some questions:

1: You know, i didn't put two mages with haste for nothing... So, because of this, i'm gonna have some problems with the attack stat with my melees, so:

1.1 - The Dragon Age Origins Wiki Website says that, spellpower, for arcane warrior, adds 0,25 attack for each 1 spell power, so if i focus full spellpower, can i just forget about dexterity with my AW?

1.2 Does cunning adds attack if rogues has lethality?

2: Does shield affect attack speed? And does it affect the bonus attack speed from duo haste? Shold i just stick with Spellweaver then?

3: Can i skip on Arcane Shield for the AW? Q.Q

Well, thats it for now, thank you for everything, sorry for anything. :D

My OP team also included three mages, but I used Leliana as an Archer so all were at range. And if one believes that she cannot hold her own, she was drawing more damage and attention than any of the four consistently. Using NM also means Friendly Fire, and this could be a problem for Zevran or any lower health melee choice.

The thing is that i want to benefit from double Haste. The AOE Spell i used the most during normal difficulty with that same team (only exception was mage was DW, but i was informed that sword and board for AW does better DPS output. Also, a shield means more attack bonus, cause according to the Combat Magic descrption, it also offers an attack bonus increase with the more fatigue the AW has) was Blood Wound, which cannot friendlyfire any of my teammates, so Friendly Fire won't be a problem most of the time. And Zevran attacks so freaking fast with duo haste that if i want to kill enemies fast, i just have to AOE cc them with blood wound, and let him do the job.

Btw, i came around with one more question:

4: Does frozen/flaming weapons stack with teleknetic weapons?

*edit*

BTW, do not forget that a full cunning Rogue has a lot of AP going for him, so DPS will be insane, and i'll definetely like it. ;D

Hmm, for me the best party in question of power is this:

Wynne with spell might and vessel of the spirit is an complete powerhouse, be it for healing or offensive spells. Of course, you will need an **** load of mana potions to keep up.

Zevran with fully speced assassin and maximum backstab damage with gear and daggers giving buffs to backstab. I once took down an mature dragon with him in less then an minute.

Shale for utter tankiness. Her ability to petrify enemies offers great crowd control.

Wynne as Spirit healer/Arcane warrior
Morrigan as Shapeshifter/Arcane Warrior
PC as mage elf with Blood Magic/Arcane Warrior
Shale

The mages suit up as Arcane Warriors and depending upon the situation Shale buffs and refreshes or acts as a tank.

A slightly less powerful variant would have Morrigan and Wynne as blood mages.

If you don't like playing a mage then go with Morrigan shapeshifted, Zevran as assassin/ranger, Lelianna as ranger/bard and the PC as a rogue with ranger/assassin.

Everyone summons, Morrigan shape shifts into a useful form and the party goes to town. Zevran and the PC both get all stabbity. If you can respec, then move Leli into a stabbity dual wielder as well. The pets can tank if needed.

Personally, I preferred Staff & Spells over Sword & Shield, and only utilized Haste for one campaign out of many. With three Mages, the various Spell Combos can aid greatly in sweeping areas quickly, so melee is not as required as normal. The AW has Sword & Shield in secondary slots for boosting Regeneration and armor, if needed.

And from the Wiki: A single Mage can sustain any two of the following: Flaming Weapons, Frost Weapons, Telekinetic Weapons but only if you cast one directly after the other (am guessing that two Mages can also stack effects ).

All that said, the objective is enjoyment, so if you wish to Haste, hack & slash, have fun! :)

If I've got a combat mage, I do my best to carry two rogues. Song of Courage is just that awesome. I like Wynne, but a lot of the time I go with Shale.

(1.1) No, spellpower alone won't guarantee a ~100% hit rate. Would need to augment attack rating from somewhere; investing in DEX is one option, Heroic Offense, Song of Courage, Rally, Miasma are other.

(1.2) Nope

(2) No, a shield doesn't affect attack speed of a single one-handed weapon.

(3) Yes, it can be comfortably skipped. It's mostly a luxury, can be replaced with another desired spell.

(4) Yes, all the three enchantment spells stack with each other, not with their multiple instances though.
