Also seems like it would only have any real use for human characters and maybe elves if it was ever something in DA.

Scanning other parts of your body wouldn't work-the console would give you a big fat, "No Can Do!" type of message and you'd have to go back to scanning a face.

I know exactly how you feel! I've made a few bust sculptures (mind you, only one of them turned out good, but still). I seriously hope the face-scan becomes a thing.
What if you face scan and then play as the opposite gender? Handsome Lady or Pretty Man?

As someone who self-inserts himself into any game that has ability to customize your protagonist and has no shame in admitting it, I can't wait to use this in NBA and WWE 2K15's MyCareer modes.
naa, why would i want to be myself? i play games and read books to be someone other than myself.
I don't much enjoy self-inserting, but I'd probably do one playthrough with it if such a feature existed, just for kicks.

I hope that the more serious game developers like Bioware wouldn't waste any resources on such a feature. I don't see how it adds anything of value to the game personally. Would much rather have them devote those resources into simply making more character creator options.
Meh, I never make myself in RPG's so this doesn't matter much to me.

My Face in a video game would be my dream.
That's a little too narcissistic for my taste. I also don't like cameras hooked to my consoles, so I would have to take a pass if this ever became a thing for DA or ME.
Plus, one of the best parts of an RPG for me is the character creator. I love taking time and gradually having my character's face be revealed as I go through all the options of creation. I can't imagine skipping that glorious step and having to settle for my own face instead. 
I suppose it's a nice option for those that enjoy it, but I prefer to stick with the old-fashioned way of making my characters. 
Weeeeeell, I wouldn't not mind a face scan tech in RPGs, if
A. it uses pictures, so for instance you can scan pictures of Clint Eastwood or Ryan Gosling or something.
b. if the scanned face afterwards can be edited in the char generation, such as giving a scan of Gerard Depardieu a new nose, or change the chin or jaw of a Scan of Idris Elba.
I would LOVE this! I always attempt to make characters that look like me, but something is always off (lips aren't narrow enough, eye color isn't right, etc.). If there was a way to scan my face in and have it be accurately reflected in game, that'd be awesome. Half my time spent at my computer is me staring at my face anyway (my computer desk is set up right next to my closet mirror due to space issues and I can't help but become distracted by my reflection...), so yes, I'd definitely use this feature.

I'd actually be far more interesting in pronunciation programs that could sound out "Medhia Nox" and say "Medhia Nox" instead of requiring my character have last names and go by monikers.

This would be SO cool. I'm going to make my first Inquisitor look like me (as much as possible) anyways. Tech like this would actually make me NOT hate the Kinect.
