I am upgrading from an extremely outdated 560TI card just to run DA:I

looks like these new Cards really run the Frostbite 3 Engine quite well.

The GTX 970 especially looks like it going to be a really good buy for the money. Boy do these cards run with very low power consumption, nice change finally for NVIDIA.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

From what I've heard no game really needs that card at the moment, but I too am in the dark age with a 570 and think it is time for an upgrade. I was waiting for nvidia to bring out the new toys before I upgraded for DA:I. So I too will be getting one, $330 for a card that is on par with a 780ti and half the cost seems reasonable to me.

Already have a 780 so I'm not gonna bother, but they do look pretty nice and actually at a reasonable price for that kinda power. But my 780 serves me perfectly for everyting at the moment.

I was going to get a 780ti for Inquisition, but I guess I will go a 970 or 980 instead since they are apparently discontinuing the 780ti.

I can't find either GTX 970 or 980 on Amazon yet - Anyone know what price bracket these are likely to fall under?

I imagine there'll be a 980 Ti shortly. I'd just wait for that. :S

$330 and $550, respectively.

Looks good, but I'm a bit short of money right now so I'm too staying in the Dark Ages with ol' good 570. But hey! Whatever canyourunit is saying, I've managed to play a lot of games with it :P  I guess I'll wait till DAI is out, play it and see if it's really worth buying a new one

Was 800 series skipped?

Or did I miss something?

By the way, the price tag is freaking amazing O.O.

$330 for a card significantly more powerful than GTX780 (which costs over $400 last time I looked). Count me in.

It drains less power too...

yep they skipped the 800 series, i don't get it either

I remember my venerable 8800 cards from years ago i thought we would have that naming scheme.

Anyways yeah that 330 dollar card looks really good right now, i wounder how AMD will respond

maybe a huge price war upcoming!

Damn, if I hadn't upgraded to a 770 for the Watch_dogs release, I'd be all over that 970, that's an absolute steal at the price.

As for them skipping the 8-series, they technically didn't but they sort of mangled the message by using the name on mobile versions of the 7 series, So they decided on a clean break for the next series to get them aligned on desktop and laptop again.

Hm, I'll make a note of this. How can I tell if my computer can support a graphics card like this? I am not familiar with how it works.

I'm content with my 760 as my gaming needs don't exceed 1920x1080, but I'd love to get a 9XX series card.

new graphic cards use a pci express interface (PCIe slot), if your computer is a PC and was made in the last 5 or so years, you might be able to upgrade your current GPU. (Graphics Card) Check out your PC manual if it can take PCI Express cards.

Lots of tutorial on how to do this here is one;

good thing about these new cards, they require very low power considering but you will need a power supply that can handle it.

A pair of 6-pin ATX power connections. this time around.

I'll get a 980 when available here. My old 465 is about due for retirement, and certainly won't be up to the task in DA:I

I'm saving for a new card, I normally like doing research but graphics cards are a whole new world.

Those were great cards. I ran 2 8800GTs for years until I melted them playing FO3.

Great cards, but they ran super hot.

Yeah, these things are incredibly good in terms of value and power consumption. I wish I would have sold my 780 ti before the announcement. Could have purchased two 970's for barely any more money and get twice the performance!

It's definitely the time to upgrade if you were on the fence before.

Already have a 780 but I may upgrade when/if they use this enhanced-performance/lower-power-build for a dual processor card like the 690.
