I have a 780ti myself, though the cards are very nice and tempting I won't get one just yet.
I bought my 780 Ti for $600 with $60 cash back in January. So I won't be getting it either.
But the GTX 980 is pretty much a no brainer for anyone who wants a new video card. It is 10% faster than the 780 Ti and uses less power than a GTX 680/GTX 770.

Nah. Ubisoft's crappy PC optimization basically guarantees that once AC Unity comes out on PC you'll need at least two GTX980s to run it at decent framerate with all visual settings at max.
But for DA Inquisition one gtx 980 should be more than enough. That's one thing that makes EA (barely) better than Ubisoft. Their games actually can run on PC.
Ubi's optimization seems hit or miss for gamers. I've never had a problem.
Looks good, but I'm a bit short of money right now so I'm too staying in the Dark Ages with ol' good 570. But hey! Whatever canyourunit is saying, I've managed to play a lot of games with it
I guess I'll wait till DAI is out, play it and see if it's really worth buying a new one
Yep. I got the most of the money saved though so if the 570 experience is unbearable to the 970 train I shall hop.

I don't know. Maybe the 800 series is reserved for the mobile GPUs.
It also seems stupid to me to waste 800 series name and skip to 900. How will they name the next gen GPUs? GTX 1000 or X** With the Roman numeral "X" like what ATi did?

Seem wonky. I purchased a gtx 770 GTX 4G less than a years ago for 450 munchies. I was like.. WOOOOOOOOOOOAH .. What the hell happenned. I am stil good for 2 years at least. For an instant felt like I slept through a years lol.
Hell I would still have my GTX 570 is she did not goes boom last years. I'm wayy too much frugal
I'll be upgrading from a 480 to a 980 in my next build. Really glad about the price. I was expecting it to be much more expensive.

8xx series got skipped cause in the leap of marketing *cough* genius *cough* nVidia decided that it's a great idea to call their much weaker mobile gpus by 8xx name. So we had 880m etc, which were in fact often weaker (performance wise) than 7xx series.
So not to confuse (or so they claim) they've decided to name the new generation 9xx.
$330 for 780ti performance at MUCH lower power draws? I I think the 970 might end up being what the 670 was back when it released.
How much bigger (taller) are these GTX 970 & 980 than GTX 760/770/780?
