Well, sorry for opening this topic in the loby again. But I guess you know why I keep posting in the lobby and not the related forum itself. anyway.

I was playing ME3 and just finished citadel II. And for the thousand times when I saw those phantom`s with sword and a pistol and Kei Lang, I was like "why the hell do I not get a wrod? I want one of those.". I am a saucker for sword fight and would have loved to see my Shepard weild one instead of that omni blade. Or even a specific class for having a sword with you.

First I want to know if there is a mod for that. And second, have anybody else felt like that and wanted their Shepard have a Katana for example?

Irony also being Shepards Omni-Blade is infinitely more cool, useful, and covert.

Kai Lengs sword is stupid. But it's a stupid character like Kai Leng anyway. So it fits him I suppose.
At least Metal Gear justified why Raiden carries around a sword. Kai Leng only has one because Bio tried so hard to make him cool. But failed oh so very hard.
There's a reason why we don't use swords today. They're cool, but ultimately outdated. A combat knife is a more useful tool. Lighter, faster, more covert, you can actually use it in small areas.
Same applies to the Omni-blade.

Nah.

Swords > Omni-Blades

They are both kinda stupid though.

I feel like this is either a troll thread full of troll answers (Given OPs Grammar), or everyone's rational thinking went out the window.

this is not a troll thread and everyone is being rational with the sword.

I'd rather take a hard light blade that weighs nothing and can appear and disappear at a whim.

Nothing says inconspicuous assassin like a big clunky sword on your back.
But wait. I forgot. ME3 was written by typewriter monkeys so of course it's useful to Kai "totally your badass rival, and not some loser coward punk you should've killed 20 hours ago" Leng.

Sorry. I type fast and cant use grammar or don`t know how to. In theory, I know grammar but when it comes to acting on it, I fail. And no this is not a troll thread. This is just my personal opinion.

The swords have some sort of an aura and badassness for me that is unmatched. Well, or almost unmatched. And I`ve always believed swords are more useful and lethal than guns in some aspects, especially close quarters combat. And considering my playstyle, which is rushing and going as close as possible to finish the enemy off or something like, a sword would have been more useful than a gun.

A. Leon's just awesome like that.

B. That's a combat knife. I believe in my first post I mentioned those are more worthwhile weapons.

The main problem here is of all the swords they could've given Kai Leng is that it's a Back mounted Ninjato.

Which is a dumb idea. (A Ninjato is a straight single edged sword. Drawing from the back would be horribly inefficient)

For two reasons.

Right but still. My point is, swords are better close combat weapon than guns/omniblade imo. And open to some crazy and beautiful moves/powers/abilities.

just because a person carries a sword, it doesn't implies an assassin. just a swordman.

There's a difference between half-demons and Biotics.

Also DMC doesn't play the realism card. It's flashy fun. Which works for it.

Mass Effect does. So it's dumb. Also I notice Kai Leng actually doesn't have a sheath. The stupidity continues.

Except Kai Leng IS AN ASSASSIN!

And swordsmen are SO commonplace in Mass Effects world. Saw them all the time.

smh.

The only difference I can see is the speed. Vergil uses his sword to block bullets and aucnhes counter attack, whereas Shepard could use barrier/shield (like Leng does) and then launch a counter attack. Or even a cool biotic charge with sword. wait, did you see what I just did? Biotic Charge with a sword. TRUE VANGUARD

And Strength, Dexterity, not to mention the numerous other biological differences.

I can draw comparisons with Raiden. But at least High Frequency Blades are justified in Metal Gear.

You post all these other games, but don't consider the different genres, and contexts.

I feel like I'm arguing with 12-year olds.

Gonna bring up Star Wars now? What about Halo? CastleVania?

Dont talk about metal gear to me. Specially this latest one. Phantom pain was it? that was ridiculous. I was watching a gameplay of it. The guy was playing it and was trying to be stealthy. The path ahead of had a few patrols. Then suddely he "summoned" a box out of the sky and took cover in to and moved around. And no one gave crap that there was no box here or around her. where the hell did this box come from?

We are talking about biotics here. The vanguard for example that can do that biotic charge thing is breaking every law of nature and physics with high dexterity person and power. So Your argument about this dexterity and strength thing is invalid.

And how star wars for example can be a different genres? They are both sci-fi and set in space and are action games. The only difference is thie RPG elements AND force, for which we have mass effect. Do you even know what mass effect means for that matter?

I'm talking Metal Gear Rising Revengence. And all of its dumb fun.

Metal Gears never been about realism (Look at the cobra unit from three. one of them was a guy who controlled bees), yet it's able to explain the usage of swords. Mass Effect never states why Kai Lengs sword is needed. I'd even be fine with him using a Machete. But not his stupid Ninjato with no sheath that he holds backwards like an idiot.

When did we start talking about Biotics? I played Soldier. lol.

Star wars is a fantasy film series with space ships and laser guns, always been.

It's about as close to Mass Effect as it is to Star Trek (Which Bat'leths are also dumb, but those are explained too)

I know what Mass Effect means. The Mass Effect field is created from running a current through Element Zero which allows the manipulation of Mass within space-time. It's how ships in ME have artificial gravity and are capable of FTL travel.

Also calm down. I'm pointing out how having a sword in ME is cool but impractical. I acknowledge swords are cool. I own several swords ffs. But I'll be the first to admit they aren't practical weapons anymore.

Could care less about your fantasies about a super ninja vanguard or whatever.

He is using a sword where guns, biotics, tech powers and the ability to literally summon a sword from your arm and infuse it with different abilities. I don't see why anyone would use one over all of those options.

The only metal Gear game I enjoyed playing was the Original Metal Gear Solid, first one on playstation 1. And I loved it. good times.

THAT is a class I never play. If I want to go just guns blazing then I would go play CoD. My favorite class is Vanguard.

Mass effect means this. When something is massive in size and scope or big, its speed is relatively low and is not that high speed. But when you lower an objects mass, it becomes easier to move and becomes relatively faster and at ome point can reach the speed of light. That is by reducing the mass of an object from hug/massive/big into small and particle or as small as possible, we increase its travel speed. THAT is Mass Effect.

Because a sword is Shiny. :D

But Imo because he is a person trained as an assassin and comfortable and effective at close range, therefore justifyin the use of a sword. And if you did not notice, when fighting him, he can or has something similar to "warp" when swinging the sword.
