So how will they handle the Warden's personality (if they show up at all)?

Given that Hawke's diplomacy/humour/aggression shtick was based off the way they wrote the Warden's dialogue, you could just let players pick one of the three in the Keep. Might break the illusion though.

However I suspect they just won't express much personality, or won't talk, or won't be there at all.

The warden is my character when i last checked i created character that i suited me of course in terms of ownership of the game bio is owner entire da setting.Best thing they can do is don't involve warden as pretty much most of devs do with blank pc in rpg after they are done with them.Simple i don't see point if warden being in the game if it isn't simple my warden and acts outside the warden i created pretty much breaking character that i created.

It isn't your character. If David Gaider decides to make a canon Warden; guess what? It's canon. It might not be the 'alternate universe' Warden I played in DA:O, but it's still the Warden. The sooner people come to terms with this the easier it'll be moving forward.

That is not true at all considering as i said the warden didn't had ready set of personality when pretty much hawke had ready personality (put personality traits into creating 3 sets)

I don't renember bioware creating my warden personality only me thus my warden was mine.If DG creates canon warden it is his warden pretty much like "bioware canon" in books.

Hawke doesn't have a set personality either. They give you three tone choices at a time. The Warden also had three tone choices at a time, it was just less obvious and less rigid.

Hawke has personality set as i said diplomatic ,sarcastic and agressive each of that set have personality tratis in it instead being being sole personality trait pretty much game even read your personality.

Pretty much i played warden that wasn't nice and polite and idealistic(diplomatic hawke) but was avoiding fight when possible (agressive hawke) and no he wasn't sarcastic (sarcastic hawke)

They could always go the amnesia route. Barring that they could use third hand info - For example the Inquisitor could comment on their personality after having an off-screen convo, ranging from 'they're really polite and cheerful' to 'they're an ass'. The Warden's personality would then shift from there depending on what you picked.

i like this. Have the inquisitor have a few offscreen conversations with the warden and combine it with choices from the keep. From there you can extrapolate a decent personality.

Although a silent Warden would be cool too. maybe the Warden is deaf? Or has an injury that prevents him from speaking? He/she could use sign language!

I hope – if our warden is in the game – that their personality would be a simple one based on how quests were completed.

I think it would be kind of interesting... if The Warden remains somewhat of a mystery.  I'll paint a scene.

Inquisitor and allies are battling a "thing" - some insanely powerful "thing" and they're losing (maybe once your party loses half it's members?)

Then a cut screen - Inquisitor is on the grounding shaking off the last attack when a figure hurtles past him/her and into the fray.  (Cut to designing your Grey Warden)

For a moment - the Inquisitor watches as a Grey Warden holds off the enemy.  Then - you rejoin the fight.

You fight with your Warden through a crazy battle.

After the conflict, you can speak with a few friends... while off in the distance, Leliana, Morrigan and the Warden speak outside of listening range.

Then your Warden comes up to you.

"Morrigan/Leliana (depending on if you romanced either) said you could use some aid.  I'm afraid I can't stay... there's trouble to the north.  I'll do what I can to help until you've fixed this mess.  Good luck."

Then maybe - you can meet up with Morrigan and/or Leliana afterward.

"So, THAT was the Hero of Ferelden eh?

etc. etc

Then - your Warden hops onto a horse and takes off.

The voice actor would never have been yours to choose anyway - and I would actually find it humorous if people who claim voice acting is superior would be upset at having their imagination usurped on this topic.

Based on Leliana's comment about how you come across as "severe" at times and how everyone is immediately able to tell that you're the leader, I'd say that regardless of our playstyle the Warden naturally projects a sense of authority about them.

And since there's quite a few sarcastic or humourous dialogue options throughout the game, I'd also say that the Warden's personality probably includes a good sense of humour, even if you chose not to have them show it often.

if it means anything on The Warden's page on the DA Wiki under appearances Dragon Age: Inquisition is listed, though wiki's can be altered by anyone i think or maybe it can only be altered by members but its been there for a long time

The real question is... would people rather miss a warden cameo than risk a warden they cant completely relate to their own warden?

I sure wouldnt. I wouldnt even care if the warden was missing his/her identity traits from your origin playthroughs aslong as the warden was in the game. Then again I understand if people are more... attached to their warden :P

Im more of a "Dont care about my warden or hawke characters anymore because now the Inquisitor is my character". Then again people are different so I completely understand people that isnt ok with that.

I kind of like Medhia_Nox's idea. Although, I don't think the Warden would need to talk, as Leliana or Morrigan (depending on choices... maybe Cullen if those two are unfriendly with Warden) could just relay info.

If the Warden is alive, just have him/her in the background fighting other wardens who are under Cory's influence and other darkspawn. Then have the Warden just speak to companions off screen, and say that the Warden is busy with GW stuff but will offer some supplies/support for help against Corypheus.

If the Warden is dead, just have some other cool Warden Commander replace the Hero of Fereldan... maybe Loghain if he is alive.

I really think that warden with Hawke has to do with either the Hero of Fereldan or the Orlesian Warden and that Hawke would just do the talking, but I am probably wrong.

Not really worried though, they could just force a personality and voice on the Warden if they want, as long as it doesn't completely contradict previous choices.

Didn't Gaider say that if the Warden appeared in-game that they wouldn't be our character anymore? In other words, the Warden would act how Bioware wants regardless of how the player thinks about it.

I think the meaning is closer to that we wouldn't really be setting the character's choices and directions anymore. They would still have the choices that were made, but we would have no control over what they did later and they would be used to serve the purpose of the writers.

Now, the best use for the Warden? Have him do cool, awesome ****. See him cut through monsters and command armies, and maybe diplomance his way through **** by "Hero of Fereldening" at people. We shouldn't get too involved with him personally, but he should be adequately impressive whenever he might show up.

I suppose that all depends on where the story left him off. If he ran off with Morrigan, he should be somehow involved with her story. Obviously we'll hear about how awesome of a stay-at-home Dad he makes to young Urthemiel, or something of that like. Training him in magic or swording, depending on your Warden.

See..what you may find impressive , can be seen as boring for some . Dunno , but sometimes it is better to let a charachter stay where he or she is , then drag it from games to games and do it wrong and hurt alot of peoples in the process . Just like some games , are better left in a certain state instead of continuing..if they end up screwing it up .

It can be boring, yes. But only if you linger upon him. If you don't linger, then there's no boredom. If he shows up, all he really needs to do is show that he's competent and capable, and taking care of himself just fine without your assistance.

The Warden doesn't need to be anyone's sidekick, and it would be simply awkward keeping him in that role.

Keep his appearances brief, but display that he's competent. If he's to be involved in the story, give him areas at the periphery to handle and a few minor mentions and appearances otherwise. I'm not particularly interested in chatting the Warden up. He shouldn't steal the spotlight, but at the same time the spotlight shouldn't be stolen entirely from him. He needs to be capable of handling his ****, whatever that may be.

Basically, the best way to use him is to show he's still doing important stuff, whatever that stuff may be, but otherwise not dwell on him too long.

Why do you need them to show he is competent ? Every blasted warden is competent . They don't need to show off really....I mean , if they survive the rite that speak volume already .

Well some peoples want to chat the warden up , me first ! and the game isn't about the warden..so he will not get the spotlight . That is why it is soo hard to incorporate previous hero in a new game where you are playing a new hero .

I hope the warden remains silent. Better yet, when s/hes about to say so something somebody interjects and says what they were about to say.

The thing most people really want to know is WHY the Warden and Hawke disappeared into the ether and if they're connected in some way. Also, VA is NOT a legitimate complaint. Everybody forgetting that you have to choose between 5 preset voice tones? Saying 'My Warden doesn't sound like that!' is nonsensical since that's like saying 'Hawke doesn't sound like Nicholas Boulton/Jo Wyatt!', which is blatantly untrue given that's who their VA's are. If they can get the five presets to do the voicework and choose based on who you picked in character selection then people really can't complain about that at least. Personality's harder, though it's possible that their companions or other people will speak for them; hell Hawke could be their translator.

I hope we get to pick between the DA2 personality sets for our Warden. It might not be 100% how your Warden will act, but surely it's close enough and if they show up I doubt it'll be for a length of time.

I dunno, I'd just really love to see all three heroes fighting along side each other.

It seems weird if the warden doesn't show up at all given the trailer. So Hawke just hangs out with random wardens all of the sudden? It's probably the Orlesian warden (to be replaced by our warden if he/she's alive).
