But it doesn't actually say that potions have been removed, just that both stamina and mana regen quicker.
Thoughts on no Lyrium or Stamina potions?

Based on the evidence we have, I've assumed they have removed them and so I'm disappointed in the assumption that they have.. Well, if you think about it, it does make sense actually..
Fixed that for you

The OP is going by the fact that they are missing from every menu and UI screenshot we've seen so far... I haven't seen any lyrium or stamina potions... has anyone?

Just because it hasn't been shown so far doesn't mean it isn't there.
I'm open to the possibility that they might not be in the game but just because the bioware team haven't shown every single detail i'm not going to automatically jump to OMG NOOOO!! How could you do this to us?

Well, the OP didn't really sound that dramatic to me, but w/e... we'll find out the details in November.

I usually set Wynne to auto-sauce herself whenever she was going dry, so didn't really need to dish out potions of any kind in DAO post-Circle.
Never really had the need to use any potions in 2. Occasional Lyrium or Health in boss fight. Don't think I've ever used Stamina Draft.
All that being said, I am ... discomfited ... by all this talk resource management and tactics and what not. I enjoy BW games for the story aspects and party interactions, not Dragon's Dogma / Hardcore Mode F:NV levels of micromanaging crap. Having to constantly think if I should use my health potion or focus now or hold on to it just in case does not a good after-work catharsis make.

I'm not liking all this excessive resource managing... all it ends up being is a whole bunch of stuff you're afraid to ever use because you might need it in the future. Ugh... Just irritating.

I for one am really quite disappointed, I loved crafting these potions whenever I could, they added for more tactical gameplay, wondering whether you should save them for a tougher boss or use them up during battle (in DA2). There hasn't been confirmation of their removal (that I know of) but it's a safe bet that we won't be seeing them in DAI. :L
So because you've heard nothing to the contrary, you believe that's the same as saying they've been removed? A rather interesting leap in logic you've opted for there, my friend.
On a side note, you really don't seem to understand the term "safe bet."

I'll admit I'm a little worried about fighting halfway through a cavern to find I've no potions with most of the cave and boss fight to deal with. It could get old fast if it's not implemented well enough.

If you're playing on Easy/Normal, I really doubt it'll be too much of an issue.

You don't know how lazy I can be after a rough day at work ;P
My favorite DA2 build was the Healing Aura/Force Mage, which still is a much higher level of player investment than, say, my D2 Golem Necromancer Schmitty...

Getting faster regen in exchange not having to figure out a lore-friendly justification for why your mages aren't half-mad from lyrium poisoning will be nice, IMO. If we are, that is.
Also, to whomever upthread- lyrium is still necessary for templars, enchanting, and probably some other potions, so I doubt the lyrium trade is going to die out just because the Inquisitor isn't hording it all.

First off, I'm not your friend..
The part you highlighted there was me reassuring everyone that it hasn't been confirmed by the devs (so don't take this as complete fact) but I'm almost certain because of the fact we haven't seen any in the UI, any being used, talked about and the fact that the mana/ stamina regen at a fast rate (there's no point in adding those potions if they regen so quickly) they most likely are non-existent. Again this is my speculation.
Also for the people who cannot understand my first post I'm not overly dramatic or angry by the removal, I'm more so disappointed that such a large part of the lore of DA has been removed. I'll live with this change I'm sure, since it's a small part in a large game but that doesn't mean I'm excited or "for" their their removal.

Another point, I've made a few threads before (which I've hidden now) asking genuine questions where I'm immediately attacked or bombarded with sarcastic remarks, most of this community is really disgusting, I only make discussions when I feel there is a large change within the game that should be addressed, or something I'm somewhat against. I honesty do hate coming here because of this though and don't think I will be back any time soon. Most of you people would not even act like this in the real world but feel you are safer in the comfort behind your computer screens where you can be as rude and as blunt as you want with no remorse and repercussions. Well, I'm a human typing this, I have feelings and emotions and being attacked for opinions you have about a game is just plain pathetic. Most of you guys honestly need a reality check, some of you guys are truly nice and if you think that's you then this is obviously not aimed at you. But for the rude people who find it funny to make rude remarks (maybe just for the "likes") then just know that you are not nice. I will also probably be attacked right now for making this comment and for the people who do attack this statement then you are most likely part of the rude category of people on here.
Thank you for reading.

They might still add Lyrium potions but instead of giving you a certain amount of mana instantly, maybe they give other benefits, like a boost to mana regen for 1 hour.
We know we have 3 things: Potions, Poisons and Elixirs.
So I guess potions are health potions mostly, and elixirs will have both buffs and bombs, since if they are only bombs, they would have called them "bombs", dont you think?

There's no way they aren't gonna have them. Lyrium and Stamina potions bare vital to combat.
Why?
Maybe could say that they were vital to combat in DA:O and DA2. But you've no way of knowing whether they would be vital in DA:I. If they're not in, it's not in any way unreasonable to assume that the combat has been balanced around not having them. In which case, they are obviously not vital.

Minor bits of XP, probably.
We have been told there's a quite heavy alchemy system, bigger than DA:O. I imagine there will be lots and lots of poisons/flasks/bombs when you consider things like the flask used to burn the boats in the Pax trailer.
Should have just went full DnD and gotten rid of mana as well, limit the spells to number of uses per encounter.
How about no you crazy dutch bastard.
Also, Lyrium potions never really made sense with the Lore. Here's what the Codex entry on Lyrium has to say.
"Processed lyrium is used by dwarves and the Tranquil to enchant items. When mixed into liquid and ingested, lyrium allows mages to enter the Fade when fully aware, unlike all others who reach it only when dreaming. This unique property is essential for the Circle of Magi's Harrowing rituals. Such potions can also be used to aid in the casting of especially taxing spells, for a short time granting a mage far greater power than the mage normally wields"
So maybe they will finally do what they are ment to and increase Spellpower for a short duration?
Stamina potions might work the same, you simply have a greater overall stamina for a bit rather than replinishing. That would make a lot more sense in combat flow and the lore.
