My question regards starting a new ME1 game with "existing ID". Which playthrough will the transfer to ME2 recognize in terms of decisions you made and sidequests you completed (namely, UNC collection quests). In other words, if i completed everything in my initial playthrough to reap the ME2 transfer benefits but played through again to hit level 60 and skipped all of the sidequests does this mean that i will no longer be rewarded for having completed the sidequests? Or if you contradict things you initially did on the second playthrough, which set of decisions is transfered? How does that whole thing work? anyone know for sure?
I'm also starting this thread so that people can ask/answer any questions related to how our ME1 characters will transfer to ME2 in terms of rewards & consequences etc. in general. i know there are some threads on this already but to my knowledge i haven't seen one related to the question i posed above (sorry if there is one).

where are you getting this info from? the ign "Importing Shepard" video shows no indication of this:

it shows the options:
- Import ME1 Character
- Import ME2 Character
so, i'm assuming you got your info from somewhere else. where?

When you complete the game, a record is made. So if I beat it at, say, level 40 on my first playthough, and then did a new game + using that info and got to level 60, there would be two files I could choose from to start ME2 with, provided I finished the game the second time, too.

thanks for the clarification, Pastorbullfrog. i was worried when i first tried to save on the 2nd playthrough and i saw my previous save files casade. i thought i might be overwriting some stuff and inadvertantly killing some much needed prior sidequest completion.

He speaks the truth. To check which ones you can tranfer over to ME2 pop in ME1 and go to the new game option and select existing ID, if you played throgh multiple times with the same character then you will see multiple end saves with different levels eg. Steve Shepard lvl. 49 and Steve Shepard lvl. 60, when you get ME2 you will select from one of these and it will give you a basic rundown of your accomplishments from the first game just so you're sure you have the right save selected.
