I think its insanely annoying when a game tries to hold your hand like you have an IQ of 2 and do everything for you like its your babysitter.  I'm not an idiot and I don't want to be treated as such.  It is very refreshing to read this.

BioWare: All Difficulty in Dragon Age: Inquisition is “Tougher” Than Origins

"It’s not necessary. It really depends on individual players, I know. This is quite a complex answer, but when you look at…. Say you were playing on normal difficulty, and all difficulty in Inquisition means tougher than Origins, definitely tougher than Dragon Age 2. So, each different player has different thresholds of how much pressure they can handle separately. So, the way we look at the tactical view – it’s almost like a pressure release valve. So, if you’re in real-time view and you’re battling away, and there’s just too much going on, you know, there’s too many enemies or they’re too tough or something’s gone wrong, maybe, as you were fighting, a pack of wolves came along at the same time and decided to get involved in this three way fight. You could, that could be too much pressure for me, so I might want to go to the tactical cameras, but for you, you might be quite comfortable to keep banging away in real time. It really depends on the player, but we would expect from the majority of players playing on normal mode.. that they would definitely find some of the more challenging fights easier if they use tactical combat – tactical view. But if they want to persevere, they can certainly do so."

I'm excited to see the possibilities tactical cameras open up for us, as I love a well-planned and ongoing strategy in a tough fight. I'm also interested to see how greatly scenery and possibly weather may play into this and could be utilized to get the upper hand in a difficult fight, too. :)

So the implication here is that tactical view is for folks who suck and can't cut it in real time.

Delightful. (Sarcasm)

what if they put in a hardcore type difficulty where the tactical view is disabled?

If it's anything like my Nightmare play through of Origins...Keep a swear jar at the ready and when you beat the game, treat yourself to a meal with the collected money....

I don't think I like this that much. No health regen, limited potions and harder battling doesn't seem something that I look forward. I hate when you get stuck in the game cause it's simply just too hard for you.. kinda makes me want to quit game and I have quit couple games because of situations like this (meaning I try fight out 15+ times and can't get pass it). Well this has hasn't happened with Bioware's games, thanks god, but more like in Might and Magic: Heroes and Final Fantasys.. I just hope DAI won't be too hard to play :P

I don't want to game to be to easy either but hard-nightmare were enough for me in DAO and DA2 when I wanted to really focus on battling. DAO I got through with hard.. DA2 not, after trying some fights more than 10 times I just switched to normal and got through them. So what I want is easy to be easy and hard to be hard and everyone is happy. If they want to make easy harder as well I hope they bring narrative as one difficult level in DAI.

As long as they don't have DA2's RIDICULOUS constant-stream-of-enemies-dropping-from-the-ceiling, then I don't care how difficult the battles are :P

I realise you were probably joking, but I actually like this idea.

They said the same thing before ME3 came out, when they claimed the combat would be more difficult than it was in ME2. We all know what a blatant lie that was, so I have little reason to believe that little piece of PR-drivel.

I'm still stoked as mad for Inquisition, though :)

considering they gave us only 8 skill slots no wonder it will be more difficult...

I like some challenge and all, but since my skill at games is somewhat lacking, I hope there is an easy mode I can use if I have to. (This is especially true of any timed sequences.)

I really hope it's just marketing speak. I found DAO extremely hard even on Easy. So I won't be purchasing DAI if it's true.

isn't that only for console? or are PC players also being regulated to 8 skill slots?

Oh man, I hear ya - I'm terrible at timed sequences. I have the worst reflexes and am generally uncoordinated during those things. I just love devising shrewd tactics and using what's available to me - possibly due to my long-time love of strategy and its use in great historic battles.

Still looking for the part where Cameron says "you won't be treated like an idiot that needs a new hobby" tbh.

We sure love to put buzz words on the devs' mouths in here.

You can always use a trainer is that's the case - it'll allow you to still experience the game without the difficulty level being an issue. *shrugs*

I believe multiplayer will help with the difficulty curve of single player combat.

I am surprised that they indicate that DA II is easier than DAO. I found DA II tougher on normal difficulty, and I never beat it on Nightmare.

One major difference, I guess, is that DA II is much more reaction-focused, whereas DAO is more tactics focused. I hope DAI puts more emphasis on tactics again.

For a very long time, yes. I'm still not great, but I can muddle through. So this has me concerned, especially since there won't be mods to help.
