Okay so I'm playing Mage Hawke and having a blast, finally hit level 11 and done all the quests available so far so now I'm in Deeproads! I was wondering about Elemental Weapons. It says that the casters staff channels it's elemental power across the entire party, giving them elemental damage. Well I'm going the Creation/Spirit Healer route and Hawke's staff is all about fire damage. My question is, if I picked Elemental Weapons, would that give Varric and Fenris fire damage? What about Merril who is already doing spirit damage with her staff?

 

I just want to understand the ability more before deciding to choose it or not. Thanks so much!

It gives you a small damage boost rather than replace the damage type of your allies' weapons.  So if both Hawke and Merrill cast this spell, everyone would get +x Fire damage and +x Spirit damage added to their current damage.  It's a very useful ability and only reserves a small amount of mana... I almost always use it on my mages.

Thank you so much Icy for answering me! I was beginning to think these boards were dead hehe! I will certainly get the spell then! I'm playing a creation/spirit healer and occasionally I'll have points to spend and have to look into other trees. I figured it looked like a good buff but wanted to make sure.

Yes, they are a bit slow, but people pass through from time to time.    Um... since you seem to be new at this game, let me just warn you that Death Syphon is glitched.  Sometimes when it absorbs mana from corpses, it will makes the body disappear, causing you to lose loot and possibly even quest items that you will need to progress through the game.  It's best to avoid using that one, but if you decide to use it, be cautious.  I don't know if you actually planned to use it at all, but I figured I'd warn you just in case...
