It wasn't until the introduction of MP into the series that I really expanded and appreciated the whole game of Mass Effect.  Until ME3 MP the only thing I ever played was a Solider....sometimes an Infiltrator.

Now that has changed I am replaying through the mass effect trilogy again.  I am on ME2 and I decided wth I'm gonna play a sentinel.  Now I am low level, but I'm not getting biotic explosions.  Are tech and biotic combos exclusive to ME3?  If not do i need to level the skills up more or what?

There is only one type of combo in Mass Effect 2 and it is the Warp Explosion.

The way it works is a target has to be lifted by Pull, Singularity or the initial lift phase of Slam, and then hit by Warp.  The lifted target takes double the Warp's listed damage and force at whatever rank it is, and surrounding targets in the radius get the listed damage and force.

Although not exactly a formal combo, physics based combinations of powers work pretty well in ME2.  For instance, Pull into Throw or Charge to send ragdolled enemies flying off ledges or the map.  That's one of the reason people evolve Throw to Heavy on Shepard.

There are no tech combos whatsoever in ME2.  Frozen targets (they must be completely frozen not in the process of the freeze animation) also take double damage though.

It is somewhat difficult to combo with the Sentinel because of the time it takes your Warp to travel to the lifted target. The easiest classes to get Warp Explosions with, using Shepard as one of the combo casters, are Adept (Pull and Singularity for lifting) and Vanguard (Pull).
