I don't care where it's set as long as one of the themes are proletariat vs corporatocracy.

I would personally love bioware doing a RPG game set in the warhammer 40k universe with the protagonist being a rogue trader. I've always love the 40k dark lore an universe, the seemingless blending of sci-fi and fantasy and and role playing as a rogue trader would probably be a great way to present that universe.

Rogue traders are kind of like specters from ME except with more power and freedom. They basically are sent to the far ends of the galaxy with a fleet to explore, conquer and discover for the imperium. They also have to navigate and please the different factions in the imperium the inquisition, space marines, Adeptus mechanicus, imperial guard/ navy and the Adeptus Administratum, among many others. They can discover world's, start colonies in whatever form they wish, conquer planets, upgrade their wargear, build an entourage made of various characters and raise armies and fleets while only really being a law unto themselves so I think there is a lot an RPG could do with these characters.

Not necessarily. Maybe something about exploring ancient civilizations and the marvels of it.

I'd like to them to try sci-fi again, but more outlandish. More storylines from the fringe as well (criminals or outlaws like Han Solo.. or the flashes of brilliance they accomplished with Aria and Jack. Or shady Volus merchants). No space marine stuff. No crew cuts. Make it more upbeat and urban. Not so military focused.

This could still be done in Mass Effect, of course..  I just don't think they emphasize the aspects of the universe I like the most.

Superhero rpg would probably use the same system as a bioware game, light on the skillschecks, heavy on skilltrees.

A class system would work if they can find a good divide.

A batman-esque rogue class.
Heavy hitter superman type class.
Elemental human torch fire type class.

They could pull it off now mostly because superhero narratives can fit their cheesy (in a good way) narratives.

Another important factor would be the destructible environments. Which is possible with the new engine

IDK, those teaser from Bioware, not sure if anyone saw them, the "you have been chosen" ones were kind of cool. For what I gather, it seems to be an modern setting were some young people suddenly start to develop superpowers. If you add the typical Bioware roleplaying mechanic, I think it's an pretty cool concept.

I would agree for one reason. An actual superhero RPG hasn't really been done (in the spirit of either Bioware or Bethesda). I've played some decent MMO superhero games (City of Heroes and that DC universe one), but their main flaw is that you share the world with a whole bunch of other people. I'd rather have a huge world and storyline all to myself. It'd be great to play through a long "origin" story for superhero, done with the same length and care as a Bioware character.

There are, of course, some decent action games as well... but the stories are railroaded (spidey or batman games).

Well, very loosely, one could say Infamous is an superhero RPG, with morality choices and all of that.

I only played the first one briefly. I don't remember the RPG components, but you're probably right. What little I played though reminded me of GTA.

For BioWare's next RPG, they should make a d20 compatible pen and paper version of Mass Effectm that would be fun.

That's kind of like referring to "Ancient Aliens" as a "history show".

I really do want that Marvelous Dragonfly danmaku. It would actually be kind of cool assuming it doesn't suck.

If they weren't already knee deep in a fantasy series, I'd love to see a series very loosely based on the late Roman Republic in the 1st Century B.C. Although inspired by European history it would be a deviation from the typical 'medieval' setting that dominates the fantasy genre. A fantasy setting based on that era would have lots of political scheming, backstabbing, chaos, war, and murder. Name a famous Roman from that end of the Roman Republic and he likely ends up either killed in battle, executed, taking his own life after being defeated or having his political career ruined, or assassinated. And it wasn't just limited to the Romans. The gallant barbarian chieftan who unifies his people in heroic fight against a genocidal war of conquest? Defeated in the climactic battle, marched off to Rome to be paraded in chains, and strangled in front of a cheering mob. 1st Century B.C. Rome was like a George RR Martin wet dream.

Sometimes historical drama is best left to pure storytelling.. movies, books, etc (like HBO's Rome series).. Interactivity wouldn't be impossible, but not sure it'd do it justice. Unless it's a strategy or sim game (Rome Total War).

I was thinking a fantasy story based on 1st Century B.C. Rome, rather than a game actually set in Rome. Sort of like how A Song of Ice & Fire / Game of Thrones is a fantasy series that is loosely inspired  by The War of the Roses.
