This is actually my first try for both Femshep and non-imported character :D I wanted to see how this build will work on a level 1 character and it's surprisingly effective. I'll probably do the Cerberus Lab mission next for more leveling, final fight on Menae can be brutal without Sabotage :)
 

I like pistol melee animations more ;) Are you able to have 200% cooldown reduction with Shotgun Omni-Blade mod? It increases weight by 50% if wiki is correct. It also gives up to 50% bonus melee damage though, two times more than any other weapon.


I've never seen the shotgun melee animation (I almost always do heavy melee).
And I was surprised that it's still 200%, even with the omni-blade and accuracy upgrade.

That's great! Your version will certainly be safer, especially with Cryo ammo. Is it Disciple V?

I like to use regular melee from time to time, it works better on husks when you don't waste time on blade animation (they can surround and grab you that way if you're not careful) plus Shepard's constant battle cries grow tiresome after some time ;)

I haven't upgraded the Disciple because...
-Ammo does not matter too much
-Weapon weight is very light

Though it could help with the damage increase.

Smart Choke doesn't add weight, only the High Velocity Barrel and the Omniblade do.

 

Shepard has a starting encumbrance bonus of "75", so every class starts with 2.75 encumbrance essentially.  Infiltrator can get another 70 from passive which gives you 3.45.

 

Disciple weighs 1.0 to 0.5 from I to X.  I don't remember the exact formula off-hand, but at V it should be somewhere around 0.77.  Omniblade adds 0.5 so weapon encumbrance is 1.27.

 

3.45-1.27= 2.18.  PRS is capped at "+200%" so that last 18% disappears.

 

edit: this also assumes no Power Recharge bonuses from armor or intel, although I think they add after PRS actually.

So, at rank 1 it will be 1.5 => 3.45-1.5=1.95?

I'm unsure about recharge bonuses, the ones from armor are applied in actual gameplay and are not visible on PRS screen. Intel bonuses, on the other hand, I can't say.

I've watched quite a few of these over the last several weeks Vaz and it looks like a fun build. Finding different ways of approaching the game has always been part of the game's appeal. I don't know if I could play the entire game without firing a shot, I like the guns too much.

That's one of the reasons I went with Predator I. Even if you shoot it's like an ant bite for an elephant :D Though I will use it in my trilogy playthrough (alongside Avenger) ;) 

It might work quite well with squad Cryo Ammo.

I like Infiltrator's melee animation and I find it fun sneaking up behind the enemies and melee attack them. Still I had missed using a sniper rifle so I stuck with it; may be on my next infiltrator run, I can go for this.

watched a bit of your priority earth mission to see how u managed meleing here as i could nt do it with my adept. And it seems U could nt either :D ;p

 

But i m impressed how u use all powers with your keyboard. I was hopping to do a no pause run too, but was unable to pull it... I cant manage more than 3 powers on keyboard, i blame mp for that.

 

edit: no shotgun omniblade, really ? i m more kamikaze myself, and put everything i could in melee, even fortification as a bonus power

That was with sub-optimal button mapping. My other builds used a better control mapping, with only the first 4 power mapped to number keys. ;)

 

I like pistol melee animation :) That's probably the only reason why I went with a pistol, aside from power magnifier mod. I picked Fortification too but almost never purged it :D

No, they are the same. But I used regular melee a lot too. Some enemies are not worth more than one heavy melee (Example) :P
