Honestly, the notion of a Warden Civil War is such nonsense, nothing more than Bioware continuing to cynically deconstruct one of their best and more engaging concepts. The Wardens and their mission have a resonance that the Inquisition genuinely lacks, and it felt too often in Inquisition like the former was being thrown under the bus to prop up the latter, the same way that a bad fanfiction writer would dump over a particular character in order to make their favourite or a Mary Sue of their own design look better by comparison. Here's hoping that they can get the Wardens back to what they were in Origins in future installments, they deserve better than this.

It's all up to speculation really, but I personally believe that the First Warden isn't really taking akin to what the Southern Wardens opening up more to Thedas. Wanting to keep secrets? Hidden knowledge that could cripple the wardens? Who knows the motivation behind it, we just know that the First Warden and the other leaders could (potentially,) be wanting war for the same reason or different reasons if the first warden is manipulating them. I find it strange that the Northern Wardens in the Anderfels didn't intervene or do anything about the Southern Wardens when Corypheus started to infiltrate their ranks.Didn't they know?

This is all just speculation :P

It even more stupid when you think about Clarel trusting some shady magister when she didn't know anything about him at all. Desperation has become popular excuse for BioWare to make character something stupid isn't it? Hmm we seen this before with Fiona trusting Alexius, as she throw her Ferelden's sympathizer and potential solid allies away over vague promise with some shady magister.

I enjoy Inquisition, but sweet Maker you're right. Everyone acts so incredibly stupid at times that its just mind-blowing.

Sera could have come up with a better plan then the likes of Clarel and Fiona.

Good thing we had Leliana and Josephine around to show examples of competent female leaders.

And I think that's a general issue with Bioware's writing as a whole lately: the only way these plots can move forward a lot of the time is if someone's carrying the Idiot Ball. Seems to be juggled around in Inquisition a fair amount; Clarel, Fiona, the Wardens as a whole, Corypheus... Maybe I'm just some old-school dinosaur who's incapable of adjusting to the times/accepting that Bioware has changed, but if your story depends on the characters acting like morons, that's not really good writing.

Yes, but trusting a Tevinter magister that shows up out of nowhere and then accepting that an army of demons is best possible solution to your mass Calling, sounds sort of, well, ridiculous.

Also, why didn't put they two and two together and figure out that Corypheus was obviously the one behind the Calling after he reveals himself at Haven. The Wardens had to have heard about it.

Well crarel was an idiot combine that with pretty much wardens extremism and fanatical pursuit to destroy darkspawn so yes Trusting Erimond was pretty much dumb as hell but blood magic and army of demons is something that wardens would do and in fact did in dao.

I'm guessing the Southern Wardens will have the support of the Inquisition and the rest of southern Thedas if they were allowed to stay and probably be seen as the "Paragon" side compared to the "Rendgade" Anderfells Wardens.

I think we have the idea that the wardens are heroes and everything, they are, but they are also ''dirty ' as the Night Watch are, I think there should be a balance in this, I think the first game had more this climate than in dragon age inquisition, perhaps because we played with a warden. I don't know. If the next game to pass Anderfels, we will have a better explanation of this intrigue on behind the scenes.
