Hey there,

I am starting my first playthrough of the official campaign and currently planning my character (Bard).
I have read blind-fight is recommended for melee characters, but I was wondering how early into the game you encounter invisible enemies (with concealment), so i know at what level approx. to take the blind-fight feat.

Thank you for your help!

Somewhere around lvl 8-10 you'll start running into plagues of sneaks.

Thanks! Then I'll take blind fight early on. (With my planned build it can fit in either at lvl1-4 or lvl12)

It's worth noting that there's an item in the OC that gives you Blind Fight and Toughness for free, just by keeping it in your inventory. I think you get it kinda late, but maybe I_Raps or someone else who's more familiar with the OC than me can be more specific. Alternatively, you can always give that item to a companion.

The item in question does break out pretty late, and it's easy to overlook unless you're the type to mouse-over everything and follow every conversation option.  By that time, your fighting folks will have blind-fight and your non-fighters won't find it much help.  The Toughness is nice, though (whee - free hit points).

Could you tell me which item or where I can get it, just out of curiosity?

There are a few spells that also grant concealment. There may be some spellcasting enemies capable of using Ghostly Visage, Darkness or Displacement much earlier in the game than level 8, so Blind Fight could prove useful from the outset.

Blind Fight is a classic under appreciated feat that useful in any melee orientated build early.

Allows you to target invisible (etc) enemies with at least a "chance to hit".

It never looses effectiveness i.e. some background feats tend to be valuable early in a build but less so latter on (Blooded comes to mind).

Now having said that there are spells and items with "True Seeing" (~ 6th level spell) which can assist you but inevitably you have to be 11th level for the spell or wait till you are powerful enough to acquire such a magical item.

You are still likely to meet and target enemy spell casters with ie. Darkness and Ghostly Visage spells before you acquire true seeing.

Further even if you acquire the spell slot/item with true seeing having Blind Fight allows you to use that "spot" for other useful buffs / enhancements.

You seem to be mixing concealment with invisibility. Despite what the feat's description says, it doesn't let you target invisible creatures, nor it allows you to fight if blinded... which is pretty silly. It simply makes it easier to hit concealed enemies, and no spell can achieve the same effect in the vanilla game (the spirit shaman ability Ghost Warrior works similarly, but only against certain enemies).

Blind Fight is my fave Feat in the game, as it has offensive and defensive properties. It allows a second roll to hit vs certain foes, and removes some bonuses from foes when attacking the PC. Recommend getting this one early in almost every character.

Indeed. True Seeing doesn't overcome concealment either.

True Seeing allows you to launch an attack against an invisible enemy (except for ethereal effects), and Blind Fight then gives you a 50:50 chance of overcoming concealment, so the two work well in combination against enemies who can cast Improved/Greater Invisibility. You can do without True Seeing and wait until they attack first - but you better hope that first spell they cast isn't the last thing your party sees.

It's a pity they cut the Faerie Fire spell. I've reactivated it as a level 1 druid spell, and it's extremely powerful - an AOE that temporarily removes all concealment from a group of enemies. I had to tone it down a bit from its official description though, as one minute per level made it too effective. I pulled it down to one *round* per level (an order of magnitude less), and it's still quite powerful.
