I once spent over 2 million credits and got *one* Ultra Rare. True story, I took screenshots of each pack and everything. And saving up that much money took me a lot longer than one day. So your idea of "guarantee" seems hard to grasp for me

Also, not everyone can do Platinum, nor even Gold. I certainly can't handle Platinum without my friend and he stopped playing ME3 long ago. Saying that 'a few gold or platinum' games secures enough credits for several packs is just a blatant disregard for those players who don't have the time or interest to deal with the most stressful difficulties. Saying that some people just need to "git gud" sounds pretty arrogant and ignores the casual players who just want to have fun.

A game, particularly a "side dish" like ME3 MP, shouldn't require grinding literally trillions of credits to max one's manifest. That's just silly. What's been suggested in this thread are ways to diminish the amount of grinding, making the MP more enjoyable in the future. How that translates into us wanting to "cheat" the game is a mystery to me; I always assumed we all played this game to have fun.

On another note people who use their high level gold color coded (rare) and particularly high-level platinum color-coded (ur) weapons in conjunction with certain ridiculously op rare classes on silver and bronze are basically trolls - I wish people wouldn't do that. There's a fine line between casually having fun and having fun at the expense of everyone else. This would be a problem that would only get worse if people could effectively buy their progress which I am in favor of to an extent but there would need to be some constraints.

I occasionally want to do a silver now and again just so I can use weapons I never get to use on a regular basis like the Phaeston, Mattock, etc on the difficulty they were balanced for but the lobby will be guaranteed to be full of AIUs, flamers, TGI/harriers, GI/hurricanes, etc. who should really be moving on from gold by now with those load-outs if they had any balls. It's frustrating for me and I have all those classes and weapons I can't imagine how frustrating that would be to new players who only have un-common unlocks. It sucks that new players effectively have to learn how to solo silver and bronze now-a-days if you want to play them as they were intended for you with the weapons/classes you have available to you as a beginner/intermediate. I wish bioware would lock weapon tiers to difficulty or a least give you the option - especially if anyone can get their hands on ultra rares.

Maxing all weapons is a major accomplishment. Its a big thing and a big deal. Its not supposed to be easy. Its part of what has kept people coming back to the game after years and years.

If you are not that good and you don't play that often that's on you. The beauty of the game is that you will always have bronze and silver that you can play.

Just don't ask them to lower Mount Everest for you just because you dont want to put in the effort to climb it.

^If you had money you could just get a helicopter to the top. Some people are only interested in the view.

I think you somehow missed the first part of my post. But it doesn't matter anyway; I have very little desire to engage in the kind of hostile forum posting you seem so efficient in, so I'll leave it here and reserve my time for more pleasant posters.

I guess I missed the part where Mass Effect was anything like Destiny.

As far as loot goes, that's your whole problem. You're depending on random loot, when you could be doing Vanguard Strikes and Patrol Missions to get your level up and buy your own gear. Maybe you prefer a more traditional shooter with linear progression and minimal freedom. I'd prefer Mass Effect get back to its rpg roots.

Exactly this. Bungie themselves have even said outright they crafted the loot system in a way that encourages players to earn their rewards through challenging themselves in the various game modes, not just rely on farming and randomized, frustrating loot drops.  They want people to get the MMO experience without the drudgery and grinding of a typical MMO.

Not that this has anything to do with Mass Effect, which hasn't had random loot drops since 2007.

EDIT: I see, the OP was in reference to ME MP rewards. There's certainly a bit of randomness to those packs but at least you can make the calculated decision to hold onto your credits until you can afford the more expensive packs that are guaranteed to have higher quality items, whatever they may be.  But I do think the system would be improved with an ability to exchange in-game currency for certain items completely of the players' choosing. Balance it out by giving the player less bang for their virtual buck, but at least it removes the risk of getting equipment you don't want.
