Which is weird, because you could also use it to take many lives at the same time while still retaining yours.
It is far easier to destroy than to create, no?

Sure, but that isn't really a train of thought that would apply to everything regarding healing and medicine. If we were trying to cure someone of cancer, for instance, the aim would be to destroy mutated cells, would it not?
Funny point of the chantry. Bunch of mundanes think they know better than mages which magic is ok and who can use it.
Gawd dam dirty peasants.
It's funny right? I wonder why they think they have the authority to tell mages what they can and can't do it innocent people...
..oh yeah. The army of trained Mage-killers that can counter their abilites and butcher them if they try.

True, but in regards to the cancer, I still think it'd take great precision to target and destroy each individual cancerous cell without harming the rest of the body. If you have slaves to sacrifice, yes, it wouldn't be that hard probably. But if you are using your own body alone as the fuel for such magic, I think it would require your life.

I'm not sure Thedas has yet developed the concept of cells, yet. That strikes me as a necessary step before you can start using magic surgically.

You're not targeting the cells, you're targeting the bits large enough to require their own networks of capillaries. I don't think that would require much power at all. It would require more than the average skill (to put it lightly) but you could probably open a finger (from yourself, the patient's father, or yes a slave) to get what you needed to just fuel the magic for one tumor.

That's why the Maker created Qunari.
Being serious: Perhaps, perhaps not. I think it would depend on what medical knowledge there is at the time, along with the experience and skill of the mage. I just find that excerpt debating the use of blood magic to be mostly working off of appeals to emotion (at least regarding Tirena of the Rock, Crescens and Seraphiniananinan), producing arguments that I have trouble taking seriously.

Honestly, I think we're just shooting in the dark here, cause we just have no way to test our theories about the applications about blood magic to cancer and other such diseases.

I don't know what to tell you... that's just how Thedas works. The Tevinter Imperium was overthrown centuries ago, and the non-mages that came afterward took every possible step to ensure that they weren't enslaved again. It makes sense that the vast majority of non-mages would want magic to be as heavily controlled and restricted as possible considering what happened before they were in a position to make such laws.

We could get Gaider to GM a tabletop.

The basis of my argument is basically that someone in Thedas should start testing these applications.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree.

Lol, I'm down.
