Hopefully the lucky people playing the MP would be kind to share what skills their characters used?

:D

I was playing the Reaver. She has two general warrior abilities and two Reaver special abilities:

1) The Mighty Blow ability we've all seen 2h warriors use in the demos.

2) A parry/counterattack ability which you sustain by holding down the button. It drains stamina but if you get attacked you automatically parry and counterattack for extra damage.

3) A sustained Reaver ability that lets you declare a wideish area around the spot where you first activate it as your "killing zone". It sucks stamina fast, but it does continuous spirit damage to enemies within and your other attacks do bonus damage within it too. It's kind of like a consecrate ground ability, except evil.

4) Devour, which does damage to your target and heals you for the same amount. If you activate it within the killzone above, it heals even more.

All Reaver abilities do extra damage the lower on health you are.

I was lucky enough to be in the audience of that developer session! Was wonderful to see. Also got to meet Neil, too, as Sony were giving out posters that he was signing. :)

Thankyou! I know Maria would appreciate this too.

My reaction midway through the presentation:

"Can't we just forget the game for like two hours and just discuss Northern Renaissance art? Come on, we'll talk about Memento Mori. I'll get my iconography of Holbein's 'The Ambassadors'. We'll sit around and examine the progression of perspective throughout the 16th century."

"Woodcuts!"

I am confused by the art presentation.

Are they so insecure on the art they create so they try to give us a lesson on the style so we do not criticize it?
We will be the judge if it is good or not and so far the cartoonish art and icons is not to my liking but the internal game looks fine for now but needs a better resolution.

Why do they not just stop with the lectures and start showing some of the combat moves and how they work so we can decide if the combat is to our liking.

It was more about sharing the mindset that goes into the art related decisions.

It's not about convincing people that they should like it or not, but pulling back some of veil and understanding the processes.  Even before I started at BioWare I tended to gobble this sort of stuff up.

I think sometimes people don't appreciate or even know about the research and work that goes on behind the scenes to build consistent styles. I was just happy to hear how much work they are putting into areas in order to draw the eye and allow your brain to think about themes.

Same here. I found all of it fascinating. Can we learn more?

Oh my goodness do I have a lot to catch up on! Had a BLAST at EGX, and played DAMP twice! It was awesome meeting the devs and watching the dev session up close! I was the wolf whistle about varric's chest hair lol! Will be putting up a video or two about my experiences soon.

I very much enjoyed watching the video. I am happy that I had an opportunity to see it and am looking forward to picking out various influences in the game. But then again, I am super nerdy when it comes to art history
