[About]
This class gives you the option to prime large groups of enemies into fire and biotic explosions, while with good defence: can bring out the heavy guns into battle.

[Powers]

Tech Armour - Durability, Power Damage, Durability
Used to increase defence. Only detonate if enemies are too close.

Inferno grenade - Radius, Max Grenades, Armour Damage
Great for taking out the armoured enemies.

Lift Grenade - Radius, Max Grenades, Slam
Great for taking out clusters of small enemies.

Offensive Mastery - Force & Damage, Squad Bonus Force & Damage
Increase the deadliness of dem grenades.

Fitness - Durability, Shield Recharge, Durability
Extra defence so dem enemies don't get ya.

[Weapons]
Since you won't really be detonating your tech armour that much, bring out the heavy weapons, like the N7 Piranha or N7 Hurricane.

[Squad]
Liara and James would be great to detonate your grenades. If you are facing Cerberus or Geth, change James to EDI so she can help strip away shields but can still detonate fire explosions.

Another option you might consider:

When I want to have Shepard be a grenadier, I start her as a soldier, and have her basic frags specced for grenade capacity. Then I like to add inferno grenades as the bonus power to the mix. Also spec infernos for capacity and you end up with 7+ grenades at a time. My typical way of doing this is to spec frags to bust shields/barriers, (gives you a general purpose mini-arc grenade) then spec inferno grenades to bust through armor. You can truly have a grenade for almost ANY circumstance, and that's BEFORE you factor in explosions from enemies primed from your incendiary. cryo, and disruptor ammo. Upgrade grenade damage with the passives, and they are rather impressive.

Also get decent protection from Fitness/Adrenaline Rush

I had great fun using this setup, and hope you will too!  :)

Oh no, I'm already running 2 current Shepards (ME3: Infiltrator for normal, ME2: Sentinel for insanity). Now I want to do an insanity playthrough in ME3 with this.

Problem, Frag Grenade (with shield overload evolution) only affects SHIELDS and not BARRIERS.
Also, Adrenaline Rush has a cooldown so it'll be a hassle if I try to bring heavy loadout.

Frag Grenades detonate tech explosions. Have a squadmate hit the enemy with Overload and then follow with a Frag Grenade. Tech bursts can take barriers away very fast

Crap. Vazgen beat me to it. But yes, that's the idea. The grenades can do ok on their own, but their best use (in my opinion) is to use them to detonate the various sources created by your ammo types.

My general formula is a few shots of an ammo type followed by a 'nade.

A few disruptor shots + frag = tech burst

A few incendiary rounds + whichever you feel like throwing = Fire explosion

A few cryo shots + inferno = cryo explosion,

etc.... you get the idea.

As for adrenaline rush's cooldown, that can be mitigated somewhat. As a soldier with this build, the only other real power you'll have is concussive shot. (also a way to detonate the explosions above) If you MUST have access to it, I'd say take that evolution at rank 6 I think which is to fire one bonus power during the effect. But by and large, I only was advising to use adrenaline rush as a panic button if the fire gets to be a little bit too heavy

I think proxy mine will be better suited for this build. In SP, you can activate multiple mines at once!

Is nobody going to point out that OP referred to an SMG, the overall lightest weapon class, and one of the lighter shotguns, as "heavy weapons"?  There are only 4 shotguns lighter than the Piranha, and no SMG has a base encumbrance of over 85% at level 1.

There exists no grenadier Shepard without the Venom.

Not sure if that is a grenadier exactly... more like a mortar strike.

Although it's parabolical, Venom shots aren't AS parabolical as to be compared with mortar strikes. Well, at least the mortars I've seen so far.

I was using hyperbole very badly. i just thought that the Venom's charged grenade barrage is a little tame compared to Mass Effect's other grenades. I just went with "mortar" as a (bad) comparison.

Sorry.

Well, the angle isn't too steep, but it still needs you to calculate mentally and adjust so the shot adequately lands in the face of your enemy :)

I also love how it can be used to clear out corners....just shoot it to the wall in front of you and leave the bomblets to clean everything there's around the corner. Amazingly useful in close-quarters :D
