Well the good thing about us 'filthy casuals' (as we've somehow become known
) is that we can play what ever class we want to as long as we're having fun. We won't be forced to play a certain class/role to please others. I have character ADHD and will most likely play several classes in DAMP. So when the time comes I'll pick whichever class fills out the team dynamics but is also one I enjoy.
How do you casual/easy players feel about posting gameplay?

I avoid MMOs almost entirely because they would make me a bundle of nerves. Constant battles, dying over and over to retry yet again for the boss or raid, having to rely on other people; good or bad players, it's stressful either way to me - either I deal with the frustration of people dragging the group down, or I am the one dragging the group down. No thanks. Mind you, this is not to put-down anyone who enjoys MMOs - I don't think they're stupid or bad, just... not for someone like me who easily stresses in combat situations where I can't take my time and think. I'd be stressed and agitated, and I'd just do the same to the others playing with me. Instead I stick to the rare multiplayer with friends in person or in closed small co-ops if the rare mood strikes me.
Oh, and I'm on the PC too, at least as far as Dragon Age goes.

This thread frustrates me -- people bought a party based, tactical combat game but they can't be bothered to actually employ tactics?
I'm frustrated because I represent the opposite extreme -- I only play on Nightmare, so I simply cannot wrap my head around people struggling on Easy/Normal; even though I've read every explanation in this thread...
The story alone isn't strong enough to carry this franchise on its shoulders -- it's the masterful combat plus the respectable story that separates Dragon Age from the other games sitting on the shelf.
I wish I could come to all of your homes for just 15 minutes -- I'd show you how this series works; then you could all enjoy the smug sense of self-satisfaction that comes from beating these games even when everything is stacked against you...oh yea and there's a story too.
Hang on a sec, this thread went on for four pages after this post and NO ONE posted a "badass" meme in reply to this post?
BSN, I am disappoint.

I can never hear/read "It will be glorious" without thinking of that guy in Jack's Loyalty mission (ME2).
Anyways.... PC player that is rather casual. Will try DAMP (I am a char-broiling Geth Trooper in ME3MP, btw), but only on lowest settings.

Just throwing my hat into the ring for helping any "filthy casual" DAMP players who might be interested but are worried about the difficulty.
I'm by no means a great MP player but I used to play ME3Mp on Silver and Gold quite often. I'd be more than happy to join any player(s) that are anxious about getting through a DAMP map just so you can experience DAMP in a NON-JUDGEMENTAL way. I know many are put off it because of aggressive elitist players who mock them for not knowing how some arcane and deeply hidden mechanic will optimise their damage output by 1.3% or something.
I'm more interested in the DA community working together and having fun, I wouldn't try and "teach" you how to play, or offer "critique" on optimising your game; I'm not arrogant enough to think I am qualified to do so.
What I will do, is help you take down that demon, tank that templar for you, heal you, revive you and pat you on the back when you surprise yourself for pulling off a wicked combo
I'll be happy to take a class that fills out the group so that you can try the class you want and when we wipe - and we will - I won't rage and complain and point fingers, I'll just ask who is up for another round. In a more relaxed environment and without the pressure of performing to someone elses expectations, you may find you enjoy the game a lot more and you are better at it than you think.
If folks are interested perhaps we shoud indeed set up a group just for this purpose. Anyone who is frustrated by the existance of "scrubs" need not apply - the epeen polishing group is over there ----->

I still can't promise I'll particularly want to delve into DAMP as I'm more of a SPer for most things, but I'd be open to starting/joining a group just in case. Is it still possible to create groups on here? I haven't fiddled with anything like that since the changeover from the old BSN.

In all honesty, elitism pisses me off in most areas of life but in gaming its very prevalant.
Fine, you are competative. Go preen in front of people who care instead of dumping on those that can't compete at your high standards. Some people just play for the joy of playing.

For me, it depends on the game. I don't think the combat is very well done in Origins or DA II, so I turned the difficulty down to easy/normal to enjoy the parts that kept me playing: the story and characters (Well, at least in Origins. DA II was a chore in general). The combat was challenging on nightmare, but most importantly it wasn't fun.
And then there are other games like the Souls series. For a beginner in the series even the normal enemies are tough, but I kept playing and learning because the combat was fun and after a victory extremely rewarding. And now, after hundreds of hours into the three games I only die ~ 5 times on a playthrough.
So the point of my post OP is: Playing on easy/normal can have many reasons, not being able to manage higher difficulties only being one of.

I remember there was a ME3 bronze/silver players casual group. It had a collaboration with the gold/platinum group, where people would graduate to the higher difficulties. Many of the gold players joined the casual group too.
I don't remember which game had this option (I think it was Deus Ex: HR), but the difficulty options were not labelled "easy", "normal", or "hard". Instead they were labelled, "Tell me a story", "Give me Deus Ex," etc. With BW games, this naming convention really ought to be the norm since the story is a main selling point.

There is a group function. It's actually a pretty good idea for people interested in dabbling in the MP for some mindless fun but aren't too worried about min-maxing and other assorted things like that
I would second this. Over in ME3MP Land, we had a group called "The Bronze Effect", which was named after the easiest difficulty level. It started off just as a group for people to casually play Bronze and not feel bad about it, but it did graduate to include the higher-difficulty levels as well... just the main purpose of the group was to have a chill, relaxed, and helpful atmosphere away from anyone who likes to rage or take games waaaaaaaaaaaay seriously, and it also served the purpose of helping to find like-minded individuals in your preferred difficulty level... or to find those a level above you who were willing to help show you the ropes of surviving a higher difficulty if you wanted to try moving up and challenging yourself more.

Ok folks, inspired by this discussion I have created a group called:
DAMP - Glorious Casuals
I'm not planning on doing heavy moderation or anything, its just for hanging out, asking questions and hooking up with like minded players when DAMP launches.

I have the same issues. When i read the 'i have a better idea. Kill the elves. Kill Zathrien' line at the werewolf lair, i hear it like the mage in the fade nightmare thats voiced by the guy who VA'd Jowan: 'We Kill. Kill everyone."
