Sorry, if I'm late to the party on this.
No options for hardening either Leliana or Alistair? I know these options aren't necessarily critical choices for a world state, but they do affect the personalities of these two characters. Is there an assumption that the Warden did or did not do this?
They affect their personality, yes but not to the degree you are thinking. For example, if you do not harden Alistair then you cannot be his mistress. So, the quick and easy way the game knows if you hardened him is are you his mistress or not? Otherwise, he's a great King no matter what, and that's what really matters. Same with Leliana, in a way. Did she kill Marjorlaine or let her go? But to an extent, Leliana is less apparent because she ends up a Seeker no matter what. So, for the most part the "ending slides" have in a lot of ways been retconned by DA2 in some sense.
Best example of a retconned slide is the one I recently saw at the end of Awakening when it told me that Anders returned to the Grey Wardens and remained with them for the rest of his days, and also I got that Justice dropped dead in front of Audra (Kristoff's widow) But, of course we know this did NOT happen because Anders and Justice went to Kirkwall, and um well I killed him... so yeah he didn't return to the Wardens.
Now, what is NOT retconned is if you kiled Leliana at the Urn of Sacred Ashes... because, as I saw in one of my playthroughs, if you killed her in DAO Hawke can ask her in Sebastian's quest "Faith" "I thought you were dead?" and she says basically that The Maker was not finished with her, so she was resurrected. Zombie Leliaina, baby!
