So I encountered something strange last night:
I have an a-hole male Cousland Warden who is married to Anora. As I was perusing my Tapestry, I noticed that under Prologue I had selected "did not help Mabari hound." Now, I just ignored that mission when I actually played this character, but when I saw the choice, I decided to change it to "put the hound out of its misery" because that's what a-hole Cousland would do... however, when I went to change it, the Keep prompted me to select "Anora rules alone."
...is Anora dumping my Warden because he killed a dog?
I know it has been already answered, but I have a doubt now.
The "you can't marry anora if you kill the dog" may be the Keep way to say "change your origin" when (I believe) it actually can't. I can't remember exactly right now, but I already noticed something similar while experimenting with the Keep: choosing an option that wasn't available to your origin/import prompts some changes that aren't exactly related to your choices but I don't recall see an option that tells you "change your origin". I think that if you choose something that's not "never did the quest" for a hero that can't do the quest in-game, prompts some changes that remove the options available only to that origin.
Maybe an example would clarify that: since Couslands don't get the opportunity to kill the mabari in Ostagar, when you pick that option the Keep thinks "if you want to kill your mabari you can't be a Cousland". BUT since the keep can't automatically change your selected hero (at least I have never seen a screen that tells you "you need to change your warden/hawke with someone else"), it prompts you choices that makes your character a "non-human noble" de facto such as it preventing you from marrying Anora.
What the Keep thinks may be:
- Marrying Anora is an option available only to male Couslands;
- if you kill the dog you can't be a Cousland (whatever hero you selected)
- SO if you kill the dog you can't marry Anora.
It's a basic Syllogism.
You gave me the idea to test this further, I want to try to mess with the origin-locked decisions (so far as I can see it's only the "of noble birth" quest and the anora/alistair marriage to the warden) and see what happens to the keep... Did anyone already tried to make the Keep believe the Queen/King of Ferelden is a elf/dwarf/mage, Anora/Alistair can be homosexual or that Mardyn can have a child with a non-Aeducan warden?
