well... we see after a night with the Iron Bull, can they walk fine or what.

Well, given that they are fictitious characters, I'm sure they'll be fine.

Even if they weren't, you are assuming alot about qunari anatomy.  And even if your assumptions were correct, you have a very limited view on what happens in the bedroom.

What I'm more interested in seeing is if we'll finally get romances that deviate from the archetypes established in the previous games.

The cute innocent romance with a dark secret: Leliana, Merril.

The cruel and seemingly mean romance whose actually quite sensible : Morrigan, Fenris.

The promiscuous rogue with a heart of gold : Zevran, Isabela.

The blond trying to do what's right: Alistair, Anders.

I'm guessing for DAI it'll be:

Cute innocent romance with a dark secret- Josephine (possibly minus the dark secret but you never know)

Cruel and seemingly mean romance whose actually quite sensible- Cassandra

Promiscuous rogue with a heart of gold- Sera (minus the promiscuity, she doesn't come off as that type)

Blond trying to do what's right- Cullen

And to add:

Human Male trying to do what's right- Blackwall (inverts Cullen's trope with his dark hair and lack of Paladin Templar Order, probably less emotional and more mature)

Promiscuous- Iron Bull (minus the rogue class and heart of gold, purely physical relationship/fwb)

Seemingly mean (actually, vain) with a dark secret (mixture of Merrill and Morrigan)- Dorian

Innocent Romance who's quite sensible (mixture of mature Fenris/Morrigan and innocence/goodness of Leliana/Merrill)- Solas

Mean?  I haven't picked up on that personality trait from Dorian at all.  He seems like one of the more happy-go-lucky characters in the bunch.  Well, him, Sera, and Iron Bull.

Yeah, isn't part of team YOLO?

Also, where is this "Dorian is vain" stuff coming from.  Is it his moustache?  Is it his frenemy relationship with Vivienne?

I think the vanity part is coming from his "dashing" comment (which I personally did not interpret as being vain so much as being facetious) and the fact that developers seem to hint at his appreciation for finery (which is likely just an extension of his noble background).  When any character has a bit of flair they tend to be interpreted as vain, which is sad.

Personally I think he's going to be the silly, charming one in the companion line-up.  He seems like a good-hearted character with a great sense of humor - a sort of balance between Morrigan's cunning and Alistair's idealism.

I'm still interested in what part of Tevinter's ideals he's actually fine with.

Straight women get more options, at that.

Technically bisexual women get more if they play as an elf. bisexual female elves get 6 options

All bisexuals regardless of their gender get double options compared to their straight/gay counterpart so does that need to be said specifically?

All I'm saying is compared sexual orientation with fantasy races are not even close to being the same thing.

I was a little disappointed in the number of options available to me.  Each of my two characters have two potentials, and one of those is shared.

That said, I'm not going to point and angrily shout "look, gay women who play an elf have way more options than me!".  That may be true, but I won't begrudge them that.

It is not true. You are thinking of straight elf women. Gay characters only get 2 options.

I feel like Dorian is one of those characters we are going to have to get to know. I don't like the stuff the devs are putting out: dashing, loves fashion, fabulous (okay, that described his mustache, but still). But I can't imagine he's just a walking trope. 99% chance he will be a great character with depth and just the perfect blend of sweetness and angst, just because he's a Dragon Age character, and that's how they do.

i think it's ridiculous really having 5 male li's and only 3 female li's, most gamers are still male.

seems like the SJW crowd in the gaming community are shaming developers in adding less male. het. romance options

Then go play one of the other many, many, many titles that are made with purely the heterosexual male audience in mind.

I am the SJW crowd and I was quite annoyed by the distribution.

BioWare said they don't just decide how many male and female romances. They write characters, build back stories and then see where it takes them. You could argue that the romances don't represent a random sample of society, but neither does TV or movies.

The only problem with just writing characters and seeing "where it takes them," is that consistently, without failing, every Bioware game with romance has had more options for the straight male and/or straight female player character than gay characters. That is about 13 games in a row. At some point it stops being coincidence. I'm not saying that they are necessarily intentionally going out of their way to give gay players less options every time, but they should probably consider their track record because they end up doing so either way.

DA2 had four romances, 2 males, 2 females, they could be romanced by male or female hawke. Excluding DLC

I don't see why DLC should be excluded in this count.

Dragon Age 2 was the closest, yes. But then they made Inquisition, and the same group of people get an additional option (for a total two extra) over everyone else.

Well, to be fair, Sebastian's romance was (it seemed to me) tacked-on garbage, so the imbalance doesn't strike so hard there.

As I've said before...I think my biggest problem with the 'distribution' is the lack of certain ideologies being available. By that I mean...You can only romance an elf if you are female. I think there are a fair amount of people who, as a male pc, would want to romance an elf for the sake of being pro-elf.

Or another better example...in origins you had two opposing viewpoints. Morrigan vs. Leliana. They were far enough apart in temperment/ideals/personality that it satisfied that player base. Here in Inquisition, you have Josephine vs. Cassandra. They are different characters to be sure...but their motivations are not different enough. Neither appear to be amoral type. So the typical 'evil playthrough' might not have that satisfying a romance arc.

Romances should be spread evenly across ideologies for straight males, straight females, gay males, gay females, bi males, and bi females. It's an RPG and that means choice should be offered.
