Thats my main fear, just a black and white choice between the two instead of bringing the two together or taking the two out choosing neither side.

That's my main hope, amusingly enough.

Anyway, I deliberately have no expectations because I don't want any hopes that I think are likely to be dashed. I'll take what I can get. I expect it'll be adequate, ultimately.

1. How big a role do you perceive it playing?

I see the war playing a major role throughout the first act of the game, and I imagine it will be resolved by the end of the first act.

2. How many missions do you think will relate to it?
There will probably be a major quest chain dealing with putting and end to the war, and depending on which side you choose to aid will make certain sidequests become available.

3. What do you think will be the lore-consequences from what we know?

Which ever side you choose will become a much more influential and dominant faction within the game universe, and will likely see greatly expanded influence and power.

4. How devastating do you think the war has been?

The war has probably been fairly devastating with towns and villages burned, and fields left scorched and barren. The results of a total war.

5. How would you like to resolve the war?

I personally would like to see mages restored to power, and the templar order and the Chantry ground into ash, eradicated and wiped from memory.

Why hope for less choices?

You won't be disappointed only impressed if expectations are exceeded.

1. How big a role do you perceive it playing?
I think it will be the first main quest, playing out like siding with the smugglers or the mercenaries in DA][ but obliviously more important.

2. How many missions do you think will relate to it?
Outside of it's own quest? No other main story quest until the end of the game. Beyond that, maybe a chain of sidequests.

3. What do you think will be the lore-consequences from what we know?
Nothing major.

4. How devastating do you think the war has been?
Heavy casualties on both sides.

5. How would you like to resolve the war?
One side losing for the rest of that playthrough.

5. How would you like to resolve the war?

1. Minor, maybe a few side missions, but I don't see it being any bigger than say the Broken Cricle mission in DA:O

2. 2 probably

3. Minimal, any lasting issues will likely be retconned anyways

4. Fairly devastating, but by this point most of the damage has been done

5.  Send the robes back to the Circle

maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of inquisition will revolve about this, taking in count we have other things to deal too

2. How many missions do you think will relate to it?

surprise me, i don't like to think

3. What do you think will be the lore-consequences from what we know?

I have no idea, as a dialogue with Velhanna portraits "do you think that it will be different if dalish had power?"

4. How devastating do you think the war has been?

The veil is torn because of this, this is an obvious question

5. How would you like to resolve the war?

Get rid of the templar order, i never liked them... alas i'm an assasin

I agree to help the templars on the condition that, after the rebellion is put down, The Circle of Magi will be reformed. The new reformed Circle of Magi will give mages more rights and freedoms. This will restore order and give the mages less reason to rebel in the future.

1)  I think you will only play a small roll in the end of the war.  The peace summit was meant to end the conflict - so the mage/templars are ready.  Though this could incite more fighting (and is obviously the purpose) - I think the conflict has run its course.

2)  I think one "area" will be devoted the finality of the conflict.  A handful of quests - this way, or that, solved as your first Inquisitorial missions.

3)  What I think Bioware will do, is different than from what I'd do.  I think Bioware will seek close to a status quo.  Many mages (notably the Aequatarians, Lucrosians, Isolationists and Loyalists) will go back to reformed Circles of their own free will with a lot of freedom to decide a lot of new policies - while the Resolutionists and Libertarians will just become a lot of apostates.

4) I don't think the war has devastated much.  Many Circles might be in ruins - some towns - small areas of cities.  But it'll all pale to what's coming I wager.

5)  How I would like it resolved is different between my Main Inquisitor and my appeal to story.  My Inquisitor will seek to put the mage back in the Circles of their own choosing - with reformed rules and a lot more self policing.

Here's an interview with Cameron Lee from E3 that's relevant to the discussion.

At ~1:40 mark he says you can end it early in the game, large pieces of content are exclusive to that and that the demo was a little section that choice. Seems fairly involved
