I don't believe it's generally a good policy to try and "****** off" your player base. Anders was certainly annoying and rather naive, but he was well-intentioned ultimately. I'd much rather have a character I don't agree with, but can certainly understand their perspective, rather than someone who is made just to be combative and contradictory to the main character. That's just poor character design in my opinion. There really isn't much of a connection to be made if you can never come to a consensus about anything or at least see things differently through his/her eyes.
Where's the character that's supposed to anger players?

I'm guessing that spot is saved for your LI from a different play through...I remembered that so many people lost their ****** when they walked in on Tali and Garrus.

I honestly don't know. I never really hated a character until Dragon Age 2, and that was Anders. I was pro mage, too. I even liked Carth! Hell, I love Carth! I like Kaidan, too. I dislike Jacob, but I still like him more then Anders.
I liked Anders just fine in Awakening, but for some reason in DA2... he started really ticking me off. And I'm relatively easy going! Fenris ticked me off as well, but... I understood his motivation. I accepted that, and I saw his character growth. But Anders had none of that
And I have no qualms with murder knifing him. I'll heal my own party, kthnx. I don't even know what it is about him! I can't even look at him.

For me, it is already Cassandra as I cannot stand her. If I can't get rid of her I will be pretty angry.

I think I'll have to see a bit more of their personality before I make a decision. Vivianne already has strikes against her for me though.

So far Vivienne is probaply the one I won't like from companions but I doubt I'll hate her. She can prove me wrong of cource as well, so far I'm just not into the snark and "what's her true agenda" -things. Otherwise these guys seem like best companions we have had so far.

Is it me, or was the DA2 version of cassandra alot more attractive than the one being showcased in DAI? Kinda off topic I know...

Cullen.
A lot of fans already don't like him from the other games..The only redeeming quality he had was standing up to Meredith at the end of DA2.
usually a character who speaks against the PC is the most hated.

You know very well that you are not the only one
as if the countless threads have been made about this topic.

My guess would be Cole. the devs have done a lot pre launch to try to endear the fanbase towards him. But anyone who read Asunder already knows of his past, what he's done.
I think that there's a chance that we will discover his true nature in Inquisition, and that we won't like it. Cole could fall back into his old ways and the Inquisition could be the ones who pay the price for it.

It's not like we haven't had companions that have done worse, though. Cole could fall back into his old ways, but he could also continue the trend he started on after Rhys first confronted him. Maybe he'll end up having a story similar to Teddie from Persona 4 where he evolves from his true nature, whatever that actually is.

I think the Asunder endeared lot of people to Cole. At least I'm really looking forward to him because of it and I find him very intresting and cute based only Asunder. I guess it just comes to how people see different characters, Cole from Asunder seem to be polarising, some people find him endearing and some dangerous.

I agree. I certainly find him interesting, we may differ on the cute part though haha. He has an expansive knowledge of blood magic, and was (maybe still is) a habitual serial killer. He has some endearing traits, so I don't judge those who want to cuddle him too harshly, but his negative points far exceed his positive qualities imo.

I think that all of the characters have the potential to both be loved and hated. Personally I think I am gonna love the Iron Bull, while I can certainly see others hating his very guts for various reasons.
Same goes for Cole. I will personally (probably) hate his guts, but I can see why others will love him.

All the characters, in my opinion, can go either way. So far, all but one of them really intrigue me for various reasons. And as of now, the only one that I could see myself possibly not liking is Sera. I think I will be liking the cast of DAI a lot more than DA2's group.

The character who we'll hate is probably some NPC that we haven't even met yet.

I believe it's been said that Sera is a character the player will either love or hate, which isn't really the same thing as someone who will "anger" players.
Haven't heard of any character that is supposed to be like that.

I'm not sure we have had a companion that's done worse than Cole feeding off the souls of his victims... I mean, sure, everyone has killed people(vast amounts of people). But there's still that extra little bit that gives Cole the prize.
I'll have a playthrough at some point in which I find out how Cole plays a part in Inquisition, and maybe even help him too. But based on what I know about him thus far, there is very little he could say/do that would result in me taking a demon into my ranks. I mean, barring another "but thou must take Anders" situation, of course...

Well you could say...
Cullen: Overly Templar, mages bad blah blah
Cass: Overly chantry religiousness blah blah
Viv: Stuck up orlesian yada yada
Dorian: Tevinter stupid moustache etc (personally i think his tashe rocks)
Iron Bull: although funny, could potentially have a similar mindset to Javik
Blackwall: WHY ARE YOU A ROMANCE AND NOT VIV!!!! That and he could be all black and white and no grey (geddit?)
Cole: Childlike and a bit immature (not his fault). Also occasional murderer.
Solas: Bald and apostate
Sera: Supposedly like Marmite
JoJo: Antivan, nobility, could possibly have a bit of a stucky uppyness to her
Leliana: May have developed a bit of a heartless streak
Varric: Honestly, i can't think of anything. If he's developed a bit more of an opinion he could be more outspoken
Then you have your Gaspards, Celene's, Briana's, Adrien's Rhys's, Fiona's, Lambert's and any other characters from the books. Yep. I'm sure theres plenty of opportunity to hate someone somewhere

The character will be named Giselle, she will be an awesome and adorable npc that you're pretty sure you get to recruit she keeps showing skills you need for the inquisition to get past a part you've been blocked and you just know oh at the end of this questline she must join and then that opens up those other areas this is great I love recruiting characters I like, I didn't get to see enough of that Avvar guy who joined I'm glad they're letting us know this npc before we recruit her - wait the quest is over and I'm not getting an option to recruit her- wait where is she going - how the hell do I get past that one part?!
Nothing is more infuriating than a beloved character who you think you can get to come with you but then you can't.

Fenris's lack of shoes and voice actor annoyed me, but more like a speed bump. (Or the fact he rarely did anything dynamic with that cool power)
DA2 Anders was like that pretentious uncle who won't shut up.
Jowan? yeah, basically petulant characters.
On the flip side, there are so many characters from the franchise that have endeared themselves to me.
If I had to put bitcoins on it, I'd go with Viv as a character who is designed to incite the player and then grow on them.
