Quite a few of these sounds good. Probably stick with Templar or Champion, some brief gameplay videos might help me decide though.

Willl companions have their own unique trees/specializations like DA2? Or would they be using the same specializations as the Inquisitor?

I like Templar, Assassin and Knight Enchanter the most. Good additions.
We now need to see how these class work.

We are actually not sure about that.
Someone asked in the RAPTR Q&A session, but we got a kind of ambigious response. They said that all companions had their own specialization that makes sense with their character. They said "consider Cole...".
However, this does not answer the question of "will those specializations be different from the Inquisitor ones?".
Because if you check the specializations, we have 1 specialization for each character, which makes a lot of sense with them.
Assassin now has the stealth mechanic integrated in it, and we know that Cole is a stealthy assassin, it makes a lot of sense. And the same happens with the rest, Cassandra/Templar, Iron bull / Reaver, Blackwall / Champion, Sera /Tempest, Varric /Artificier, Vivienne / KE, Dorian /Necro and Solas /Rift.
They ALL match perfectly what we know from those companions, so I think that specializations will be the same, since if not that would be hell of a coincidence!

I just thought of something.
We know that we learn specializations from different quest givers after they join the Inquisition. But maybe they could teach specializations you can't get/don't want to some of your companions. That could be why we saw Iron Bull as a Reaver.
So companions could have their own unique trees, and then could also learn a specialization that the Inquisitor hasn't learned.

Kinda disappointed with Necromancer. Seems they will focus more on CC and utility than raising powerful minions.

If that is the case, then that sucks

Hmm. Rogue specs aren't exactly blowing my skirt up; of the three the Tempest sounds the most intriguing. I hope it plays well with a bow, though.
Looks like I might be rolling mages after my rogue though. They all sound pretty awesome!
i think it should play well with a bow quite well. We all saw thus spec ages ago without actually realising it. Sera was using a bow at the time.

At 55/56 seconds.
i believe the ice, lightning and fire icons are related to the tempest spec.

I think it was the mage that casted 3 yellow light balls at the enemy... somehow that one felt like Necromancer (debuffing), cant be sure tho.

I dont get it. What are we looking at?
i edited the original post. Basically the icons we see in pretty sure are the ones a tempest has.

Still going Reaver me thinks first. But I will likely try out many many many of these character types.

Unless the Necromancer also has anti-spirit spells - I'll have to pass. My Inquisitor believes Fade entities are incompatible with the material Thedas and must be eradicated.
I'm hoping Rift Mage has a lot of anti-magic spells - out of the three, it seems like the one that might (as it manipulates the Fade itself).
So - Rift Mage or Knight Enchanter for me.

True enough. I won't be entirely satisfied until I can see them in-game and in action, but I'm sure it will be fine. If I have to adjust my play style some to accommodate, so be it; I'll still make and love my rogue, no doubt. Just might not end up being as I'd expected. More than anything I'm just a bit underwhelmed with the rogue specs, since none of them really scream 'archer' to me, while in contrast, all of the mage ones excited me for their potential.
Basically, we just need this damned game to come out already so we can get in there and see for ourselves, plzthx. ![]()

Well, I sure wasn't expecting that for Tempest. I was thinking of going with Artificer for my rogue while just roleplaying as an alchemist. Which to choose...?
#172
Posté 25 septembre 2014 - 05:53
Well.... Artificer seems more bow friendly while Tempest pretty much requires you join the fray. Though if we're talking thematically, then yeah, you're right.
Don't forget that rogues have always been able to make bombs and poison - it was just never put in a specialisation. In DAO you had to put points into Poison-Making, but you could do it whether you were a dual-wielder or an archer.
Having seen the archery skills posted, I'm wondering if there is such a thing as general rogue skills (including archery, stealth, lockpicking etc) which branch into specialisations once you're a high enough level? Similar to The Witcher 2 where you had to fill out the introductory skills (hitpoints, dagger throwing etc) before you could choose Mage, Swordsman or Alchemy.

Sorry, double post - well, since we're talking, I'm thinking human female Rift Mage for first playthrough and dwarven female Tempest for second. Male qunari reaver for Dorian ![]()

Lockpicking is something all rogue can do , it's part of a set of exploration skills each class has.
Now in some demo Cole couldn't open a door , he didn't have the level required or something.
I don't know if we can level up those skills or it was just locked because well it's a demo.

I meam to be fair. What can you do with warriors? Fast sword welders? Duelist in last two games.AM disappointing warriors didn't really get a new spec.
Anything else would be too uninteresting or wouldn't fit the character.
