The only change I would like is bisexual Blackwall (or gay, but that would never happen since Cullen/Solas are race-gated). Also I think Vivienne should be bi/pan/lesbian regardless of her not being romanceable.

This isn't about forcibly changing a person's sexual orientation, it's about what orientation you'd have preferred a fictional character be written as. Not the same thing, not the same ballpark, not the same league, not even the same sport.

I'd have preferred an approach similar to da2. Sera and Cassandra the bi/ambiguous options available on one side and Dorian and iron bull on the other, with maybe Cullen as the extra li like Sebastian was.

So who would I want to be our four bi options... Hmm, gonna have to go with Blackwall, Cullen, Sera, and Josephine. Why, because those are the characters I wanted to romance most before gender gating happened

 

Barring that, I wish they'd stuck with 2/2/2 so that it's fair. And those 2/2/2 would be:

Cassandra -- straight

Sera -- gay

Josephine -- bi

Solas -- straight

Blackwall -- gay

Cullen -- bi

 

But since they added two, I feel it should've been 2/4/2 instead of 4/2/2, so the two extra bi options would be:

Iron Bull

Vivienne

 

Only leaving out Dorian because he is the one I am least interested in romancing; nevertheless, I'm glad Dorian fans got their guy (for their sake).

 

So in an ideal world my inquisitor would have the ability to romance Cullen, Blackwall, and Iron Bull, and when I roll a female inquisitor she'll have Sera and maybe Josephine; it's nice that in reality I do have those two options, though I prefer to roll male characters. And I guess when it comes down to it, I'm lucky I got my third choice, at least, Iron Bull. Damn lucky.

The way they are now. The writers know the characters better than I do.

 

And its a sad reflection of the fandom that so many demand the writers sacrifice how they choose to the write the characters just so they can be catered to.     There are a ton of choices in this game.

 

The whole issue  about being able to romance who you want.  Wish more people would admit that.

 

You can't get everything you want in this world.   Its just the way it is.     They did not create the characters for the sole purpose of depriving people.

I wouldn't have had set sexuality or race-gates. But if I had to:

 

Cassandra: Straight

Josephine: Bisexual

Sera: Bisexual

Vivienne: Lesbian

 

Blackwall: Bisexual

Cullen: Straight

Dorian: Gay

Iron Bull: Pansexual

Swap the orientations of Cassandra and Josephine, cut Solas in favor of bisexual Vivienne, and have Blackwall be bisexual. Or, with fewer changes, I would cut Solas and Cullen along with the Josephine/Cassandra swap.

I'm not that impressed with the companions in this one in general, so their romance gender gating is of little concern to me. I just hope they end up being more interesting than they currently appear on the surface.

im not okay with this because they did it in DA2 and its why we had such cheesy romances in that, because no matter what gender you were the LI all acted like you were the girl when the romances began, and when the inevitable love scenes happened they all made you into the guy. Please god dont let that ever happen again!

 

Something tells me the Josie and Iron Bull romances are going to be repeats from DA2.

What...? There weren't even any love scenes in DA2. How was Hawke "the girl" in any of them...?
