I find myself supporting the dalish viewpoint on this one...there is no defense of the chantry, they deserve to be taunted. Its hilarious. Now if only i could walk into a cathedral waving a banner of the old gods...ah well a magister can dream...quite literally in fact ;)

Viewpoints like the one above are why belief in the Maker will never die. Also, you do know that the magisters of old believed in the Maker, right?

To be fair, it is pretty hilarious.  My Dalish threatening the reverend mother in Lothering was absolutely hilarious with Alistair's and Morrigan's reaction.

This magister denies the maker. I prefer silence.

It's not hilarious. It's staying in character. I expect a Dalish elf to act no other way.

I didn't do it out of any Dalish pride or Creator-thumping. I did it because it was entertaining. I didn't threaten them, I just got kicks out of them.

Y'all are no fun.

What, that the people of Thedas have sticks up their butts and they need to be loosened? Yeah.

So your answer is to make fun of their religion? Good job, Snook. Some people actually take that seriously, you know. You mocking them for their beliefs doesn't help loosen anything.

No, it's to make fun of them.

The righteous ass part was because the guy was unable to respond. :S

They mock the dalish. A little taste of their own medicine.

Because of his religion. :\

It's like saying I'm making fun of a deaf kid because he can't hear. I'm not making fun of his disorder. I'm making fun of him.

The Chantry personally goes up to Keepers and insult them? That's new.

is chantry evil?

well. it's a political structure and institute of faith. take it as you want.

however i find position of the Chantry about the mages very stupid. Chantry had direct control over mages and their breeding inside the Circles. So they could run eugenics programs on a basis of the Circles. But they didn't. Chantry also were separating mage parents with their mage childs, which is dumb as well. Not because of some feelings or some other crap, but simply because such behavior do not inspire loyalty. You can't ingrain loyalty to a child as well, because people around this child will have different take on the worlds and things around them, so there is no chance on running indoctrination program from birth.

So basically Chantry were not using advantages and leverages they had on mages, which is stupid. Just in few generations attitude of mages towards circles would had been changed. But nope, let us be dumb priests instead.

Same goes for city elves as well to be honest.

So you can considered politics of the Chantry as humane approach or as stupid approach.

She's a bit sanctimonious if you politely decline saying "How unwise with the battle to come", but nothing bad.  In order to get the rude dialogue, I would have to say "Keep your worthless mumblings to yourself.".  Might be different with a Dalish.

The first line I had was 'I'm Dwarven kin' though, so I'm guess it's similar there for the Dalish replacing it with an "I don't worship your god, human".  Then the next line's the same for both where they can either politely decline or say "Keep your worthless mumblings to yourself."

I just checked with my Dalish Warden - if you ask her "Does He give blessings to elves?" and then tell her "No, I don't want your blessing" she calls you a heathen and questions the judgment of the Grey Wardens.  Same result with an elven mage.

You also have the option of being catty, which gives a similar result.  Either way, elves = heathens to that particular Mother.

EDIT: Clarity needed - elves that don't accept her blessings = heathens.  Sorry about that.

Probably better to drop this.  Also, if we're following the OP's rules.

This rule includes both the Dalish and the Chantry.
