Hey now, the Darkspawn are perfectly salvageable if you're willing to give up some blood.

No. Darkspawn spread the blight EVERYWHERE they go just by existing and reproduce via rape and mutation.

They are like a virus, they need to be purged.

I'd argue that but the taint has progressed to the point that I think those wonderful Darkspawn are just nifty! Long live the Archdem----*and I died*

Sure:

"The organized worship of the Old Gods was it its highest prior to the First Blight, when it is written that Dumat himself rose from his prison as the first Archdemon. While the Chantry insists that the darkspawn created the first Archdemon, some ancient lore says that Dumat created the first darkspawn and led them against Thedas. Either way, Old God faithful were betrayed to discover one of their gods could turn against them."
~World of Thedas, page 122

Hm....Interesting. Not quite as credible, in my view, since the Grey Wardens know very well how the subsequent Archdemons have been unleashed. It's hard to believe that the first one was any different. Still, a different perspective.

To the rest of your post, Keroko: I think we've reached an understanding of views. Pretty sure you haven't changed mine, and I doubt I've changed yours. But it's been fun.

Yeah, we'll need more than "some ancient sources say" for credibility. Still, it's something to keep in the back of our minds as we go into Inquisition.

Likewise.

Only due the Qunari.

If they had left it would have never happened.

They could have put the people on boats and ship them of to Par Vollen. They could have send messengers to the qunari and tell them to pick up those that were defying the treaty. They could have tried to slowly re-convert them over a long period, one villager at the time. They could have just let them be.

There were many alternatives to slaughter. The Chantry chose the purge.

Right Qunari violations of the treaty should be met
By Thedas going out of pocket.

Also they were told to leave and refused.

Because the qunari are awful.

I'd rather deal with the fanatic that would just kill me as opposed to the one that would turn me into a brainless slave with their Qamek.

Yes, but at the time when you do this quest you don't know that yet.

No it's called killing Qunari that refuse to honor a treaty.

Stop being Qunari or GTFO.

That's still a violation of said treaty they signed, hey you sound like ISIL right about now.

Better to destroy their entire philosophy.

If that can be done without wiping out all the practitioners marvelous if not... if not I'll understand.

How did this thread go from "The Chantry is evil" to "The Qun is evil", LOL?

Not that I necessarily disagree, but I wonder if things like Qamek and cutting out mages' tongues is really supported by the Book of Koslun. It wouldn't be exactly unheard of if not. Not that I like the basic idea the Qun is based on, but I would rather avoid genocide. Perhaps there could be a tolerable version of this philosophy.

I actually meant considering them all to be nothing but monsters worthy being being murdered to the last man is kind of monstrous.

I hear you. Reading people say such things gives me the creeps. Especially since I don't know if they're roleplaying.

Calling the qunari leaders to pick up their followers isn't "going out of pocket."

Remember, these weren't invaders. These were people who were born and raised in Rivain for generations. Now they are being told to get out of the country they were born and raised in for their choice of religious beliefs. And when they refused to abandon the lands they toiled on for generations because politicians decided they should -which, you know, is rather reasonable- they were put to the sword.

It's amazing how easy "convert or die" is excused when it comes to the Chantry.

Yeah, it's gives me the creeps, as well, Ielda. Since racism is a good part of, what the Chantry teaches the vilifying of mages. I actually find Sten and the Qurani culture interesting, as most of the culture is based off The Republic by Plato.

In fact, I would call into question most oral history as things tend to get muddied overtime. Most tend to embellish things like during Prince Dracula's regin. The People he fought would say, he would drink the blood of the people he killed by leaving them on large spikes while sitting at a table. Which histocaly we've found no conclusive evidence he did such a thing. Yes he was known for harsh punishments and cruelty, but this came come mostly from German Saxons and the people whom denyied his people their freedom.

Chantry don't vilify mages chantry speaks truth in that matter so i guess chantry should lie and tell peoples that mages are nice and aren't dangerous despite fact they are?Not mention that peoples hardly need chantry to see mages in that way see Redcliff (twice now) and even leliana knows that now.

Well i have no doubt that chantry does that a lot (as pretty much almost everyone) but we know that part we are talking about is true.

No some sources, say it was Dumunt that started the blights and not the magisters going into the city. In other words, it's inconclusive at best to say that the mages were at Fault for the city turning black.

As i said chantry version was already proven as simple corry confirmed chantry version simple 3 facts he was a magister that went to the black city and he is darkspawn and last thing he remembers is black city so whatever they did there with dumat or not they brougt blight there is no question in that.
