Lol, are we really still trying to excuse the magisters?

Nope, I don't excuse the magisters, I just take what the chant has said happen with a grain of salt. As, it's been rewritten before by the chantry for their own gains. I am pro mage, as I am for humans rights. I am saying text that are passed through orally do get muddied.

He admits it. He's a darkspawn. There's really no discussion.

Yeah, I know he admits he had gone too the blacken city, did they cause the blight too spread is my question? Other sources according too The World Of Thedas page 122 have stated Dumunt had spread the taint

Corypheus points more to the Chant's story being true than false... unless he was a Darkspawn before entering the Golden City - which, I'm thinking: No.

We need more information to get the complete picture, true. But so far, we can make a judgment: that the Chantry's version, embellished and extremely biased as it is, it's the one that gets more sources backing it. Including the important part about Magisters + Fade Walk + Darkspawn being related in some way or another. That's the real matter here, because it's the most important reason the Chantry uses to speak ill of mages.

That the city was golden or black before or after the Fade Walk, that the Maker spoke or not, that Dumat tricked them or not is secondary and looks more like an attempt to avoid adressing the main issue here: that a Tevinter Magister did perform a Fade Walk to try to reach the fabled city and that he became tainted and was part of the first darkspawn known by Thedas.

It's amazing how easy "convert or die" is excused when it comes to the Chantry.

Given they willfully disregarded the treaty the onus was entirely on them

That was their home for generations and I would disregard an treaty that forced me from my home. They were also unarmed that were killed.

I love how people think banning people that disagree with them is a great idea.

Hey, at least I have morality to prevent me from killing unarmed people, which the chantry did in this situation.

Then you make that decision and accept its consequences.

They made their decision, nothing more.

Don't recall that bit

the Rivain Chantry and nationalist forces, unable to convert its people back to the worship of the Maker, tried a purge by the sword, slaughtering countless unarmed people and burying them in mass graves.

Here you go from the link here.

Qunari"—refused to leave their homes and go in exile to the islands. And again, when the Rivain Chantry and nationalist forces, unable to convert its people back to the worship of the Maker, tried a purge by the sword, slaughtering countless unarmed people and burying them in mass graves.
