I'm really interested in befriending Cassandra. Part of the reason is to see how we could go from 'she threatened to kill me, held me prisoner and conscripted me into the Inquisition' to 'I have her back and she has mine'. The other part is that Cassandra strikes me as someone who never had many friends. I'm just so curious about her history and how she sees her life. Does she have regrets? Does she have dreams she's had to give up? Does she ever let her guard down? What would she do for fun?
I can't wait for this gaaaaaaaaaaaame!

Everyone, well except for Cassandra, I fully plan on getting on her nerves for my first playthrough, but that's mostly because I'll be playing a wee bit of a troll, and can't wait to reenact that bar scene.

That does sound tempting... Arrgh! To befriend or to taunt? Decisions decisions.

I will try my best to be friends with everyone although it might be hard depending on how it works this time round....hopefully I might still be able to hide some bad deeds away lol.
I can see myself getting pretty buddy buddy with Dorian and Solas, especially with my mage Quizzy who'll find their different lifestyles as fellow mages interesting. Cole will be one my mage will be skeptical of at first but in the end I think she will find him rather interesting as well and will probably develop a soft spot for him and that'll help towards them being friends in game. The only one I'm worried that I may actually clash with is Viv, she seems like she is going be pretty strong willed in her opinions, especially regarding the circle. From what I know of her so far I'm not sure I'll get along with her in many of my playthroughs although I'll give her a chance....hopefully she isn't a nag otherwise my Quizzy may just snap at her.
Everyone else, I can't see many issues at the moment, so I should be fine with the rest, all friends! *group hug* Sorry Viv. >.>

I think it's because most naturally go for Varric since he was our best friend in DA2. Unless the dynamic between Varric and the Inquisitor is different, he's the one I'll have as my inquisitor's best friend.

Of all the companions I'm most interested in befriending Vivienne. Sure she's haughty and arrogant, but just think of what she can do to your enemies! At her worst she sends them a scathing letter that will cause them to jump off ledges and at best, well she probably knows a couple of magical parlor tricks that will ensure her BFF Quizzie is not one to be messed with. Plus be on good terms with her and she'll find you the best outfit for the Orlesian ball.

My Inquisitor's best friends will be Dorian and Sera, and he will also be good friends with Varric and probably Vivienne as well! Well I'm gonna be friends with everyone but these are the ones I'm looking forward to most and will have in my party more (along with Iron Bull who will be his LI)

My female Dalish mage will befriend Sera,Varric and Cole.
My main party will be Solas(my romance), Sera, and maybe Cassandra. I really love Cass, but my Dalish won't like her too much for the sake of Roleplay. so maybe Iron Bull. ![]()
Oh! and Varric, if I don't use Sera I'll be using Varric for my rogue.

I do want to be Cole's surrogate mum, depending on how the kid's personality and all that actually work in the game. Me and a lot of people.
I really want my scrappy Cadash tank gal to be besties with Viv. I think the clash of personalities and desires would be completely awesome if they can get over it.
I KNOW she's going to get along well with Varric, but ... Well. Yeah.

I think my Lavellan will probably be good friends with Solas. As the First of her clan, she's used to studying a lot of Dalish lore, and I think she'd be eager to share stories with a fellow elven mage, especially one with a unique PoV as Solas. The fact that he knows so much about the Fade and potentially elven history will also interest her. When she's feeling a little more in gregarious, she'll go to Sera (LI) and Iron Bull. I'm thinking they'll really bring her out of her shell. Perhaps Varric too.
Cadash will be most fond of Solas and Cole, since she's fascinated by the Fade. She'll probably troll Solas a bit with lots of questions, and also try and get him to let loose. Cole she'll probably be softer on than anyone else, and she won't be very judgemental of his past (I doubt working with the Carta has left her reputation spotless).
My Adaar mage will have a huge amount of respect for Vivienne and Dorian, as fellow mages and refined individuals. The fact that Vivienne's pretty much a self-made woman will probably impress her, and Dorian's hopes for Tevinter (though she might not think it'll work). She might also be interested in Blackwall, but I don't know enough about him yet.

Trevelyan's bros are going to be Varric and Solas. Maybe Iron Bull depending on his views on magi.
Trevelyan's mentor is going to be Blackwall.
Treveyan's main squeeze might be Cassandra.
The rest... eh
He might clash with Vivienne. He'll probably be creeped out by Cole.

Since I my Inquisitor concept is pretty laid-back, he's going to try to be friends with everyone.

I can't wait to try to make friends with all of them, then take sides and don't give a fig what the others think regarding my actions, then try to do a p*ss them all off playthrough.
But I don't know who I'd romance, or who my bff are going to be, don't feel like I know enough about them yet. (at least for first playthrough)

Welcome! And hmm... I'm excited to be friends with everyone, but if I had to pick the few I'm most looking foward to I'd pick:
-Varric (Buddy! You're back! So what's new?)
-Sera (You are going to get me into trouble and it's going to be fuuun.)
-Iron Bull (You are going to literally throw Sera and me into that trouble.)
-Solas (Tell me all the things about the fade and history.)
And an honorable mention goes to Cole. I'm not sure exactly how I feel about him yet. I am more interested in learning about him than anyone else, I'm just not sure I want to be friends.

Josephine +10 Approval each time you call her "baby girl."Im going for a morganXpenelope dynamic like in criminal minds(favorite show)
I completely get this, especially for romances. For planned friendmances, I suppose I just think "wow, this person would have a lot to talk about with my PC given their respective backgrounds. Plus they seem fun/intriguing/have awesome facial hair."But I don't know who I'd romance, or who my bff are going to be, don't feel like I know enough about them yet. (at least for first playthrough)
Thanks! Figured I might as well metaphorically shout my first post from the virtual rooftop. I also completely agree with your assessment of Cole. He's fascinating, but my Inq will definitely be wary.Welcome!

Gonna befriend them all with all inquisitors if possible, but as for BFFs, that depends on each playthrough. For example I would think my lively F!Cadash get rather well along with Dorian, Iron Bull and Sera, while my more serious F!Adaar looks for quieter company and would be rather interested about discussions with Solas.
Need really play the game first, though, before locking my opinion on this case. ![]()

So everyone actively tries to bend over backwards and befriend everyone in a single playthrough?
I pick a personality for my characters and stick with it throughout the game. I actually go in looking to befriend some companions and to rival others.
On my first playthrough, I plan on having my Inquisitor befriending Cassandra, Blackwall, Dorian, and Vivienne. He will be "meh" regarding Varric, Sera, and Solas, and he will dislike Iron Bull, and Cole.
Of course, this might change once I actually get to know the characters, but only if they turn out to have a totally different side to them, but I doubt it since I won't be changing my Inquisitor's personality to try and befriend everyone.
On the second playthrough, I will make rivals out of the friends that the 1st Inquisitor had, and friends out of the rivals. It makes things interesting and allows me to see different aspects of the companions' personalities.

Based on what we know right now, I can see my first Inquisitor becoming friends with Cullen, Dorian, and Iron Bull... Vivienne is a possibility as well, but she seems to have a rather negative attitude that may cause me to steer clear of her. Hopefully I'm wrong about that, because she seems like she'd be a good ally for this PC.
Leliana probably won't make much of an impression since this Inquisitor has little interest in espionage.
Josephine... eh... I dunno much about her.
Blackwall could go either way since I know nothing about him besides the fact that he's a Grey Warden and apparently has a strong sense of duty.
Sera, Cole, and Varric most likely won't get along with him and may even quit the team because he's more interested in the big picture than the needs of individuals, and he will have absolutely no interest in helping the weak...
Solas... I just don't see he and my first Inquisitor having much in common besides race, and that's not enough of a foundation to build a strong friendship. I'm hoping that they can at least get along, but we'll see...
Oh, and Cassandra is the potential LI, which is why I didn't bother to mention her...

Blackwall for sure, he just seems to share the same values and principles. My brother in arms until the end.

With what little we know about the companions so far, i'm most looking forward to being bros with Solas. He seems like a cool-headed and reasonable guy with impeccable tastes in fashion.
Varric would be nice, but I just know that no one will ever replace Hawke for him, so why bother trying? Not to mention the fact that we arguable know even less about his character in DA:I than any of the new characters, because Bioware are keeping his character development since DA:2 secret. I have a (very unwanted) suspicion that I won't like the way in which Varric's character heads.
