Pardon if this has been answered before, but what is the class of the trailer inquisitor?  His collar looks like the rogue, but then it switches right away to him casting spells.

Maybe there is no iconic inquisitor, other than him being a male human?  Do you think we'll get any CGI trailers like these?

I'm planning an iconic "trailer" playthrough.   :)

Bioware is deliberately trying NOT to portray an "iconic" Inquisitor so fanatic fans won't discriminate and go into a rage about sex and class and bla bla bla...

And no, we'll not be getting a CGI trailer this time round.

Two handed warrior human of either gender. Check the box art.

They are avoiding "iconic" looks because people get all whiny when they do that

Like others have said they really haven't been pushing a specific class for the 'iconic' inquisitor, and have shown both genders pretty much to equal measure. The trailers have shown mostly a warrior male inquisitor, but again, I wouldn't call that the 'iconic' inquisitor or the one they are pushing as canon.

Well, there does seem to be a default character. If I was to guess, the Jason Statham-looking guy we've seen in most of the major trailers is just the first human male preset. We weren't shown preset 1 in that CC footage.

Instead of an "iconic" look for the inquisitor (most likely a male warrior)

Trailers for each class would be pretty cool, but not have it spoil anything.

I like this new approach, to be honest. Leaves more mystery in the game.
Not really a fan of CGI trailers myself, they’re typically not at all indicative of the end-user experience.

Though, especially that Dragon Age 2 trailer... it was very cool.

BioWare does have a bunch of social justice warriors amongst their fans, so if BioWare ever "favors" one gender (men mostly) over another (women mostly), then the forums usually roars up with the same handful of posters whining for months on end.

This time around, BioWare thought we could all use a break, and decided not to give them any ammunition (however ineffective that ammunition is).

Who shows up the must? Whose leading the Inquisition during the table scene? Who's in the art they released a few days ago? Humans with swords.

I love it how some people take every given opportunity to complain about other people complaining, and how much they complain. Maybe if you whine at just the right frequency you can cancel each other out.

---

I feel the need to point out that dislike of iconic characters isn't really gender related. People who dislike them usually disagree with their character being defined. The gender representation argument simply goes that you should make it clear female player characters are a thing, so have two or more iconic characters - or alternate them in an established franchise possibly.

---

The most common marketing Inquisitor is the male human, two handed warrior.

I prefer that there is not iconiq character. DA games are games where you do your own character and I don't like to feel like some default look is pushed to me, that's not my character.

I don't think making the Inquisitor Gender neutral has anything to do with SJWs. This all traces back to FemShep exploding in popularity. If Bioware were "Panderin to SJWs" the default Inquisitor would've been like a Lesbian in all the trailers. As it is, it's just being considerate to the fanbase as a whole.

They aren't pandering to them. They've just had enough of their bullshit, and decided to not give them anything to yell about.

I doubt it's because Femshep "exploded in popularity" when something like over 80% of players still played as a male. I also don't recall anybody saying that Bioware were pandering to SJWs. Just that they're probably sick of all the complaining (along with the rest of us) and took away any ammunition that would likely be used against them.

I'm terrible at character creation, so I hope that the human male inquisitor will be one of the available presets for human CC

Please. Old CRPGs, TES and FO never show the PC on their box art and show many variation of the PC in trailers and such, so yeah, all Bioware is doing is going back to its roots(Bioware only started showing their PC on covers from JE and on(minus DAO). Even in DAO they showed other variations of the character in trailers and the box art was not of the PC.

But nope, it has to do with pleasing the SJW and keeping them silent, it can't be with going back to how it used to be, no sir.

Until recently, the human male Inquisitor was the star of the show, who seems to be a two-handed warrior. I think it's a good thing that they're branching out a bit. But ultimately I don't really care if there is an 'iconic' version of the Inquisitor. Truth is, they have to use someone for marketing purposes.

It's nice how when BW finally decides to drop the notion of an "iconic hero" and not favor any gender or race or class in particular in order to return to the classic principle that in a roleplaying game your hero is whatever you make of it, we have to immediately jump to "pandering to SJW" vitriol. It can't possibly be because they want to give every player the freedom and choice to see our own very personal, very distinctive hero as The Hero of the story, instead of a premade character we may or may not identify with. No, it has to be some malicious plot or another to pander to this group and oppress that group, etc etc. No genuine good intentions can ever be the ~true reason~ behind anything BW does.

Good riddance to the iconic hero. Your hero is the only one that matters.
