Unless I've been dreaming, I'm pretty sure Qunari got 50+ health as a base stat trait and not what it is now? Any others changed?
melee damage reduction if I recall which is better in the long run than 50 health which is good in early game but loses effectiveness in later stages of the game due to health growing higher.

That and damage will surely scale up so that 50 health isn't all that significant when the enemy is dealing 50+ points of damage in a single hit.

Maybe not. But it could mean the difference between hours if gameplay to get to an ability that you want that's locked behind other prerequisite abilities.
The sooner you get certain abilities, the sooner you get into a secure, reliable combat rhythm.
A single passive can make a world if difference (like warriors no longer needing to be flanked, a wider arc for rogues to use their backstabbing abilities, to mages being harder to interrupt while casting).
Getting abilities like that sooner can make all the difference in certain situations and give a lot more leeway in combat for a larger portion of the game.
Could yeah.
Or it could be pretty much window dressing because you get your 8 main abilities fairly quickly.

Oh don't worry, I'll teach you how to max out every attribute.
You won't even need those racial bonuses afterwards.

Sis, do you even play this game series? An extra skill point is a godsend, as compared to bonuses to damage reduction when there's armor for that.

I'll admit that before I heard about the 8 ability limit, I thought the human racial bonus was godly. Now, it seems decent at best... It might be possible to use this to pick up an extra passive depending on the build, but it seems like this point will go to waste pretty easily since the PC will undoubtedly pick up a lot of unused skills before max level. So it could go either way, really... it's useful for a head start in the early stages of the game, but unless the player is extremely careful and willing to work within a rigid build, it could wind up being useless at the end.

I play on normal so it's not that much of a godsend. It's nice but not godly.
And with the limits on abilities well...*shrug* and BW likes their filler crap in the trees.
I might feel differently if I played on nightmare but I don't.
Also chances are I'm gonna pick the 8 hardest hitting attacks and leave them on my bar never to swap because I can't be bothered with micromanagement bullshit. So yeah that extra ability is most likely not going to be that big of a deal to me.

Yep. And since I'm not one of those careful builders I'm on the "meh whatever" stage. BW don't tend to make their games difficult enough (least not on normal) that 1 skill is gonna make a viable difference.
