Even if they do make NWN3 they wont bother with a toolset ( Like Dragon Age 2 etc. ) so I wont be getting it and if they did make one going by their current track record it would probably be pretty rubbish.

They probably will not make a new toolset to any other future game because its technology has evolved to the point where is too complicated to handle and to modeling requiring specific knowledge.

I beliave all games have your own toolset but its reserved to incorporated builders.

The chance of this being true is unique and exclusive to the neverwinter nights franchise. All previous versions of nwn were accompanied with a good toolset.

I posted a screenshot of someone's profile, regular readers can click on the profile icon too.

I'll make this my last reply in this thread but if you really think my profile header (which is a joke) is serious then you should really question Bioware's moderators for allowing an alleged troll to run rampart on this site for more than four years with over 6,000 posts or perhaps entertain that it's a running gag I have going with people in the off-topic section.

My posts here and on the Dragon Age: Inquisition forum (well most there) have been constructive however even providing threads with pages of discussion as my thread here did. You're certainly no troll as _xkg_ thinks and I can see you're very active in this community but your comment in that last thread was unnecessary just because I happened to disagree with you and another on NWN2. For comparison, this thread in the link here is trolling (and it's also harmless trolling to entertain people which it clearly did) whilst giving constructive criticism about NWN2 and later asking what expansions people would recommend isn't.

Even though anyone can see I was still having serious constructive discussion with other people on this forum in another thread and that I respect all you modders for your hard work, you can continue with your accusations if you must. I just wanted to point out the difference between disagreeing with somebody and trolling as you and many others on the NWN forums often seem to confuse the two, a behaviour I never find elsewhere on this site.  Goodday, in any case.

Far Cry 3, Witcher 2, Fallout 3 games.. I don't know about Skyrim but I think it's got one.

Toolset = bad sales of DLC, it's nothing to do with being over complicated as not everybody working on computer games is some sort of technical genius. I knew nothing about computers at all before using the NWN2 toolset it's just a matter of learning.

There is no profit in user made content and Bioware want profit. What other company puts don't forget to buy DLC at the end of there games ?

I'm not so sure about that. Yes, gaming technology will keep advancing, but so will modder's tools and knowledge. A sufficiently dedicated team will find a means to build their own set of tools.

The problems of a toolset release isn 't DLC, it 's more linked to licenced 3d party software, where you need to pay for every use/installation.

In order to release a toolset a solution to this problem needs to be found, more and more in software devellopement use licenced tools, and since those tools don' t belong to the compagny making the game, they can 't release them to the public.

Neverwinter ('The city of Skilled Hands' - ooh, exciting!) has to be one of the most boring cities in Faerun. How it managed to get two games named after it is a mystery. Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate were much more interesting locations.

Icewind had killer dungeons too. NWN2 has boring (or nonexistent) dungeons.

I beliave the Neverwinter MMO just have been inspired in the Neverwinter Nights franchise and used Neverwinter name to associate it as D&D game style.

Actually, I tried NW:O.  I mostly liked the gameplay and setting, but I did not appreciate the *bleep*-poor customer service, business model and unacceptably low backend security.

The one possibility I could see happening is a company like Beamdog taking a couple of well-received campaigns like HotU and MotB, then sprucing them up with an improved game engine and toolset.

That would be cool.  Chances are about the same as me winning second best prize in the big lottery...

please, don't ever mention beamdog again. their whole business model is about raping the infinity engine to grab some cash from bioware's legion of fans. they can't even into enhancing iwd2 because of all the engine changes black isle created for dnd 3.0 - possibly it would take too much time/needs a bigger and more experienced team and thus minimizing revenue. not to talk about that their so called enhanced editions actually don't enhance anything, besides introducing a plethora of new bugs.

as shallina said there is often middleware added to today's engines, which makes it difficult to release developer tools. plus the whole modern developer environment is server based. you simply can't rip the tools out of the network structure without investing lots budget and manpower.

I'm hoping this will happen in the future.

But we have to wait for a lot of time. Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition will be released soon, then it's Icewind Dale II EE most likely (that game was rushed and the engine could use some fixes), then it's Planescape Torment EE with a new engine at least.

Then we might get NwN1 with some improved textures and models from the community for example.
If NwN1 was updated, then NwN2 would be as well.

But here's the big problem, like the infinity engine EEs, if you change the engine too much, you break compatibility with modules or mods or PWs.
Perhaps they could release some patches and smoothen things out as we hoped Atari would do but didn't.

Those these are all hopes and guesses. They wanted to create a BG3 first or something similar to the Infinity Engine games.
